The school in which I trained for the last three years charges $65 a month for your choice of 28 one hour TKD classes (Mon-Fri), and 5 one and a half hour Akido classes (one a day, M-F). You can attend as many of the classes as you like, The TKD classes progress in intensity until the last class. Weapons training is included two days a week, and sparring is offered four days (two days of competition sparring, two days of street fighting).I feel that it is a bargain.

Personally I think $200-$300 is not unreasonble for a school that can provide results. That's just me, but I believe that you get what you pay for. If someone is charging $200-$300 for bad martial arts, they will fail. If a school has been around for a while and charges those rates and has a large base of students, you may be okay. Phone calls won't tell you anything. Go talk to the schools. Remember, if you get classes for free, you will get your money's worth and probably nothing more.

200-3000 is not unreasonable? Geez if you've got that sort of money why don't you pick up my gym fees?

On a serious note I'm probably moving and found a bjj school run by a purple belt under charles gracie. The cost would be 45 bucks a month for about three hours of class a week or 90 for about 8 hours. This seems ridiculously high to me, but I've been paying <30/month for >8 hours a week for a couple of years now. Considreing the guy's rank (he's also got two fights listed on sherdog) is this typical for bjj?

          Thanks

WOW... It seems like axekicks got the best deal around here... But not better than mine :->

Mine is all free... Only bad things is I train 4 hours a week with current insturctor but I and my partner learn from eachother 20 hours, 6 days a week...

I'm not sure if i've got a good deal, I only pay $40 a month (and that's 40 buck Australian so its only $20 to you yanks), but on the other hand I only get two hours a week from it and in all fairness its not the best class.

                  Doch,
My classes are 80 dollars a week for three two hour classes, 100 for unlimited. My teachers are also very informal though, so sometimes class can go to three hours, and Saturdays is open gym. Both my teachers have sanctioned records at sherdog.com. I think that what you describe is reasonable.

Normally, I'd say I was grappling, but I was taking down and mounting people, and JFS has kindly informed us that takedowns and being mounted are neither grappling nor anti grappling, so I'm not sure what the fuck I was doing. Maybe schroedinger's sparring, where it's neither grappling nor anti-grappling until somoene observes it and collapses the waveform, and then I RNC a cat to death.----fatherdog

I wonder if I should still go to this school I was talking to someone and since I am 15 I would be in the "kids" class, and I am not going to take sub par martial arts lessons for kids when I am almost has capiable has a 16 year old which the consider the best for the adult class. Them damn agists

I think people should be in a kids class till the are 18 if you do any type of sparing. I do not have the patience to deal with 15 or 17 year olds.
And that's when I figured out that tears couldn't make somebody who was dead alive again. There's another thing to learn about tears, they can't make somebody who doesn't love you any more love you again. It's the same with prayers. I wonder how much of their lives people waste crying and praying to God. If you ask me, the devil makes more sense than God does. I can at least see why people would want him around. It's good to have somebody to blame for the bad stuff they do. Maybe God's there because people get scared of all the bad stuff they do. They figure that God and the Devil are always playing this game of tug-of-war game with them. And they never know which side they're gonna wind up on. I guess that tug-of-war idea explains how sometimes, even when people try to do something good, it still turns out bad.

Wow, Omen you're smart. If you ever went to an adult class in a legit school, you would get fucking torn apart. Try sparring an adult, who is in great shape and probably a couple times stronger than you, after that beat down, you'll be wishing you were in the kids class.

If the school is not a Mcdojo, then the kids should be learning good stuff. In my school, most of the kids(10-year olds), are basicly learning Muay Thai, then as they get to be around 13 they have a Teen class, with mixed martial arts. And the adult class (18 and above), is basicly the same as the teen class, but with more depth.

And another question. Are you the only 15-year old in the kids class? If you are, then you should be allowed in adults class, if there are a bunch of other kids your age, then I don't see why you aren't in the kids class.
