    useless moves

    This is supposedly kuntao silat.

I've seen this kick in Wing Tsun and always found it silly.

Guess what gives? The knuckles or the foot?

And can somebody enlighten me how do you post images to threads?

I never saw that kick in wing chun. Low kicks only, belly height at most.
    That civilisation may not sink,
    Its great battle lost,
Quiet the dog, tether the pony
    To a distant post;
Our master Caesar is in the tent
    Where the maps are spread,
    His eyes fixed upon nothing,
    A hand under his head.

No such thing as useless moves, everything is effective under the right circumstances.

that second one would be really good if there was a bee on someone's foot.

The first is unusual and I'd think rather rare, but like ronin said, under the right circumstances, any move can be apliccable.

The second is a bit silly though. Why not just stomp with the heel if you're going to hit someones foot?

misdirection. the bee might be expecting a heel stomp. you could pretend like you dropped some ice cream or something and then kneel down and then bap! pow!

The chin kick is very effective against someone in wheelchair or tied to a tree.
The punch to the foot works really well on someone with only one leg, and no hands, or tied to a tree.

I never saw that kick in wing chun, and Leung Ting has just demonstrated why. Thanks Tomas.

Most foot attacks I've seen have been stomps. You can really damage the lil bones in there and stuff.

Remember that scene from payback with Gibson and the meat hammer?

I wonder if that technique is where Bruce Lee got the reference for the saying, "kicking someone's head is like punching someone's foot", obviously paraphrasing as he may have never have said that. But I heard he said it.

Yeah, imagine: you get somebody in a heelhook, and next thing he'll know you're PUNCHING HIS FOOT. Will freak the hell outa him.:)))

I've come to believe that all those rigid forearm blocks I learned in TKD are pretty useless.

Hey Matt, how were those forearm blocks taught? At my MT gym we learn to block hight roundhouse kicks with the forearm, away from the body, held in a vertical position.
