    Anyone know about this school?

What do you guys think about this school?

You know what. I looked under the instructor listing and I couldnt find any mention of BJJ. It makes me wonder if they are even qualify instructors of BJJ. They seem to be just saying they teach it just so they could attract more students. You really have to check the credentials with these guys.

The BJJ guy is from the combat-do side of the school... name of Bob Schirmer I believe.

It seems to be two schools merged into one. The Aiki Training Hall and Combat-Do(formerly All American Martial Arts)

I know they have fighters competing at local NHB events and that Shonie Carter (UFC) trained/teaches there sometimes.

      Seems ok, dunno.

Bob Schrieber is a good MMA trainer. He was in ADCC and he fought a really good match against Wander Braga a while back. He lost but the old man held his own and then some. I think he wrestled in the marines too.

The fighters they listed as Chicago legends, are in fact well known. So this would be a nice school to attend if you want to do some MT.

Jeremy, I was looking at your web page and this IS a small world! I also trained under Randy Stigall for a while. Him and Doc are two of the finest men I've had the priviledge to know in my life.

BTW - I went to the new school last night and trained. Very nice, exactly what I need. I met Master Schirmer and a few of the Muay Thai instrusters. Very impressive. I can't believe Bob is still competing NHB at age 47. Wow.

I guess you have to check with the Grcies and find out who is qualify to teach BJJ or not. Now these days you have judo guys and jujitsu guys pretending they teach BJJ but your learning elementry judo or what not.

The school's not affiliated with the Gracies or BJJ. Bob Schirmer has a Jiu-Jitsu background.

I trained under Carlson Gracie Jr. for a while.

It is not that important to me if they are BJJ or not. What is important is that they do fight in all the local NHB tournaments and they don't have a bad record. That's what matters.

                  :)

                    Ted,

When did you train with Mst. Stigall? How long did you train with them? I agree with you that Mst. Stigall and Doc are great gentleman as well great martial artists. I wish I lived closer to them to practice with them again. So which one ore you in the Hog pics?

I trained with Randy for the last few years. I've been away with the Army this summer, so I have not been training since the spring. I took a class a month ago and saw him. Since I've made my decision to switch schools, I need to go in and tell him soon. That's hard. You know how he is. I gotta do what I think is right for me though...

I saw Doc last night at a Harley dealership. Doc was diagnosed with skin cancer last year. He's looking good and still training very hard. I really hope he pulls through. I pray for him. Life's not fair when you see good people have bad things happen to them. It's so sad. He's in good spirits and still kicking ass though. :)

My pics not on the Hog site. You can see pics of me here:

I stopped with the AMA in 2000 due to moving away. I drop by from time to time for any seminars that they might be holding. I was mostly in Randy's morning class.

I think he will understand when you talk to him. I would just never break your ties with them. Go to their seminars and always keep in touch.

I haven't moved that far. Are you in Chicago now or do you still live in the burbs?

I live on the northwest side in the city. Harlem and Higgins area. I only lived in the burbs for 2 years (Westmont). I'm originally from the south side of the city (82nd & Kedzie/31st & Halstead).
