European Jujutsu Jiujitsu Union and BJJ "dan"s

So, this union can give BJJ "dan"s?

Is this fake or this organization really does this?

    BJJ "dan"? seriously?

It looks a little like the "Brasilian" got written in afterwards? Pretty sure none of the people on that cert are BJJ black belts.

I'm assuming that this is the organisation in question:

      http://oejju.webs.com/

This is the first time that I have ever seem a martial arts organisation recognised by UNESCO, quite how the hell you get that I don't know (or why).

I've had a quick scan of the "directors" and although there seem to be a fair number of high Dan grades I can't see anyone with a BJJ background so I reckon I would take this with a huge pinch of salt.

I don't know if anyone with a ju-jitsu back ground knows anymore about this organisation and the people in it.

I do notice that they seem good at throwing people out of their organisation and have a link on the website for the naughty boys and girls who have fallen foul.

Can you show us where you got that certificate from? Mustafa Balkan appears to be on YouTube doing 'MMA', point karate and 'JJJ', but no BJJ claims that I can see.

*The International JuJitsu Federation [IJJF] is not to be confused with the Ju-Jitsu International Federation, founded in 1987, which is represented by the United States Ju-Jitsu Federation in the United States. It was originally called the International Ju-Jitsu Federation until 1998.

Neither the EJJU or this org can bestow BJJ ranks, period. (FYI BRASIL is how many Europeans spell it.) Plus Ashida Kim is a member of this org so that should say it all.

Other than this cert I can't find any claim to being a BJJ Black belt either.

They just lost whatever bit of credibility they had in my book.

No, lets not get into the huge debate about spelling as it is a dead horse. I'm just pointing this out because it is in MABS.The certificate has the common TMA spelling, not the one you put in the title that would make someone think BJJ.

As someone said, I'm curious as to what brought this to your attention?

It's been scribbled in with a ballpoint pen. Who cares how it's been spelled, it's not part of the original document.

It also has 6th Dan scribbled on it in ballpoint. I don't know much about BJJ, but are there any 6th Dan's in BJJ in existance??

Did you miss the preemptive nature of my post?

I can go get the 1,000 threads were a person shows up and say "OMG TMA NOT BJJ LOOK AT THE SPELLING."

this union can give BJJ "dan"s?
Again, it is in his OP and I am curious where the BJJ comment came form. You know, it is MABS, we get the article, video, screen shot, interview or whatever before they remove it from the web. So, yes, the spelling, even if it looks scribbled is a point of contention when the "boo-boo birds" and angry students show up.

6th Degree black belts, yes, a few. They're not really called "Dans" in BJJ. This guy is clearly not one of them, but it's not clear to me where/if he's making this claim? Is this cert on his website or something? A quick Google doesn't find it for me.

Thanks for that - I think that the OP might want to explain where this certificate came from and it what context. As mentioned is he claiming to be something he is not?

Clearly nothing to do with BJJ.

Minor point. Vernon Bell died a few years ago and the photo they have of him is that as used in his Obit written by Hanshi Terry Wingrave 9th Dan, and published in The Times.

Ronnie Colwell. Don't know him (no reason why I should) and he was, apparently, the senior instructor at the (Trad JJ) BJJA [British Ju Jitsu Association] before the major split. He himself trains more in Karate, as I understand it.

                            Nothing else to add. Sorry.

I am so sorry for the late feedback, I couldn't get online for some time.

I saw this when it was shared on facebook and a local forum for martial arts.

Here is a list of some teachers and representatives etc. and we can see his name as a "6th dan" but not really specified
                              http://oejju.webs.com/boardofdirectors.htm

There were some comments on the forum like:
"How odd, this guy is a very famous person on JKD. It is unbelievable that he would do something like this"

Also heard he does gumdo (don't know what this is) and "shoot boxing" (which are again not seen on his profile)

Anyways, I shared this with you guys to learn if this organization does anything like this normally or not. And maybe some of you guys know him in person.
Because if this thing goes viral later on internet, we better know who should we blame.

                              Thanks
