Of course everything needs a little time to sink in but I have created a system that relies on natural movement and basic logic. I call this system Hokuto Shinken "The Art of the Assassin." It was created with the idea that in order to defend yourself from a would be assassin, you first need to know what the assassin knows and how they would attack. Only then can you really expect to beat him at his own game.

For those who don't know, Hokuto Shinken is a made up martial art originating from the "Fist of the North Star" manga/anime. Thanks to a bout of insomnia I came across this guy who has repeatedly edited the Hokuto Shiken entry on wikipedia to include a shill for his website offering his "services." He's allegedly a black belt in Brazilian Jujitsu yet spouts the same bullshido a Wing Chun practitioner would say:

His style isn't made for SITUATIONAL defenses. He has been trained to clobber his way out of a situation. It's just too slow for multiple attackers, especially when you can't waste time going to the floor.

A Google search turns up a post in Sherdog where he claims to have been trained under Rillion Gracie, but he doesn't say how far that training went.

So out of curiosity, is there anyone out there familiar with this guy or can even vouch for his supposed BJJ blackbelt?

I found him on another forum claiming to be the only true JKD instructor in Miami. He claims Bruce Lee never intended it to be mixed with so many styles. This guy seems legit. HeHe

Wow there is something even better. He posted a certificate for Department of Homeland Security Anti-Terrorist First Responder. From 2002. It has the wrong DHS logo and according to the DHS site that certification doesn't exist.

I sent an email to the Rilion School in Miami hopefully they will get back to me. Where is Anthony when you need him?

Cert Whiteshark is talking about shows him with rank under Carlson Gracie Sr. and Carlson Gracie Jr. It was given to him in 2007.

Sr died in Feb of 2006. Perhaps it's common to have a dead guy sign your certification, but seems a tad fishy.

Most of those certs are from mutual appreciation societies. A few are from known frauds. A few more seem to be legit JKD world schools. I'm still just stunned by the sheer volume of certificates.

Is the Carlson cert too blurry to read most of for anybody else?

It is very hard to read. That may be intentional or not. I haven't heard back form the Rilion School where he claims to have trained. However, I only emailed them. I'll give it some more time then call them. Sometime MA schools take a while to reply to email.

I'm affiliated with him. Great guy, great teacher. Happily, he's supposed to be in California this week, so it should even be possible to talk to him, which is touch and go with how much he travels.
