Matt, your sig is very... profound. Do you actually blow bubble with your snot? If not, then it's really just 'chewing' gum. People have yelled at me loudly to get across that difference......

    Bwahhahahahaaaaa!

Oh my goodness! Heh, heh. That is some ridiculous stuff. I just love this...
In case you don't lack the above mentioned things and BJJ fighters still take you to the ground, well, then, train more.
*snicker* "But Sifu, I did everything the way I was supposed too and still got taken down. Maybe I do need to learn some grappling..." "No, the problem is you. NEVER QUESTION THE STYLE. You just need to train more. As does everyone who has ever been defeated by grappling!"

And then, this was also great...
Mixed martial arts are the best - Nothing, nothing is better than specialization.
ROFL!!!!! They claim the reason MIXED martial arts does so well is that it is SPECIALIZED. Mixed = specialized, in their eyes.

What is lacking to the Gong Fu people out there ( in terms of Xing Yi ): ...f - Reality training. Full power sparring with no protection.
Well, at least they got one thing right.

    Regards,
    Matt

Tadzio posts here sometimes, using his own name. I agree with most of what he says, specially regarding specialisation.

And he does not advocate NOT training in groundfighting, he advocates specialisation: "Train a lot in what their are supposed to be specialists ( Gong Fu ) and have a minimum knowledge about ground fighting, so that in the case they go to the ground, they will no be finished." He makes the same statement regarding GJJers.

Yeah, it is not Gong Fu that has failed you... IT IS YOURSELF! For shame. Go train some more!

I like how these articles start out by complementing the Gracies, but then proceed to uppity Asiaphile nonsense.

There is a basic insanity about claiming that your style has everything you need if you just think hard enough, and that nothing else has anything to offer. Likewise, saying that it's ridiculous to believe that a fight is "over" when a BJJ stylist gets you on the ground is downright hyperbolic.
