    Big Brother- One Step Closer?

So, I heard on the radio this morning on the way to work that the good ole' government has devised a new way to beef up security in our nation.

The plan is this, install web cams in various public areas such as parking lots, gov. buildings, etc...
Then, hire people to sit at home and watch the images. These people will be trained to look for certain suspicious behavior and will not know where their particular webcam(s) is located. If they spot something suspicious, they will send an email. Upon receipt of this email the images in question will be reviewed by a second "spotter" and if the second opinion concurs with the first, a cop or similar enforcement person will be sent to the location.

Now, while I personally understand the importance of homeland security in a world where people want to kill us, I think there has to be a line. Webcams are cheap as shit, they could easily be installed at the corner of every block. I do not feel this is necessary and I don't think that our government should have free reign because we are at war with "Terror". I mean, let's declare war on obesity and put tiny trackers in twinkies. WTF, maybe one day I'll be sitting on my porch at home rolling up a doobie and some fuck off in Utah sees me on his webcam and reports it. Well, trying to avoid a rant here so...please add...your...comments

Don't they already have that in some european countries? I seem to recall London having cameras everywhere like that. However, it is bullshit. The very idea that the gov. wants to watch us is outrageous. I'd rather take my chances and feel free than be "safe" and watched.

How would they make sure the guy was watching his screen ? Fucking have one watching him ?

Gov: "Were you watching your screen ?"

            Employee: "Yes... honest."

            Gov: "Ok"

                  Ever read 1984?

And THAT is a book about the horrors a COMMUNIST government inflicts upon its citizens, precisely to protect them from "the enemy".
                  That civilisation may not sink,
                  Its great battle lost,
Quiet the dog, tether the pony
                  To a distant post;
Our master Caesar is in the tent
                  Where the maps are spread,
                  His eyes fixed upon nothing,
                  A hand under his head.

Actually George Orwell was attacking Stalinism. ("Snowball' Is supose to be Trotsky. That donkey was suppose to be the Russian working class.) At one time he was a supporter of the PUME in Spain. A anti Stalinist socialist guerilla movement. Interesting. Huh?
