    Guns!

Are you pro or against ownership of firearms?
Are you pro or against government control of firearms?
What's your take on guns and violent crimes?

I myself don't think a piece of metal makes people evil..
    fire away (no puns intended)

A gun is nothing more than a tool. I'm all for the right to keep and bear arms (Or is it keep and arm bears ....?)

However, if you own a firearm, you are responsible for keeping it out of the hands of children.

Or responsible for putting into the hands of children and teaching them how to use the dern thing. Otherwise, it's like Chief Wiggums "forbidden closet of mystery".

I, myself, was forced to shoot a .38 at 4 years old (with help). It's not fun at that age. I passed on expanding gasses for a while. Then I got older, yadda yadda.

As for my creed, it's a tool. If someone has shown he can't be trusted with a tool then he has no bidniz being on the outside. If one is on the outside he should be entitled to all the rights and priviledges afforded to all free men.

The other option is to have a permanent population of 2nd class citizens who can't vote, get much in the way of dignified employment (even if they tried) and are otherwise singled out and marginalized. Of course we can't trust many of them with guns. We can't trust THEM! Whatta surprise they might commit another armed robbery! What do they have to lose? Their voting rights? Their right to by a gun? Their right to work at a YMCA? Oh yeah...they lost that already...and they're living amongst us. Our bad.

No gun control. None. Zip. Machineguns for all who want and can afford 'em. If you initiate force against your fellow man once, you get comprehensive rehabilitation..with caveats. Do it twice and you're going to Australia....with caveats. The burden is not on us to prove we AREN'T criminals. Other way around.

Mr Liberal Lawyer weighing in on his one "conservative" issue, if you had met some of the criminals I had (and I'm not claiming to be tough) you would want a means of defense if one of them came a calling late at night. Self defense is a basic human right, and in the commonwealth countries that have been attempting to ban firearms all they have seemingly succeeded in doing is empowering criminals. I would stress however that such ownership is not an absolute right, one has a right to own unless you show by your previous criminal or psychatric history that you can't be trusted.

I dont like guns, i will learn how to use them eventually but in my perfect world there wouldnt be any, but as long as they are here i will do my best to coexist with them.

"guns aren't killing people, the fucked up people leading fucked up lives are."

um no, technically the guns are, or the damage caused by their bullets if you want to be pedantic, please tell me how the washington sniper would have shot people without his gun (aside from yellow bamboo). guns kill, thats what they are designed for, it is their sole purpose, if they didnt kill then you might as well own a water pistol.

Now dont get me wrong here, im not millitantly anti-gun (lol now theres a paradox for you) they serve an important purpose in todays world, but id prefer that we didnt have any need for them and at least where i am in the world i see no use in owning one.

I still don't see why you would link criminal behavior to guns. In Switzerland every adult male is required to keep an automatic rifle and ammunition at home locked up as part of the militia, and gun related crime is near zero. If a person is not a criminal, he is not going to murder people even with access to full auto weapons. You can't blame an individual's action on an inanimate object. With a crazy mofo like the snipers they will eventually find other ways to kill, with gas bombs, knifes, cars, whatever. Shall we ban gasoline and automobiles too?

guns are meant for killing, they are specialised, killing is illegal in most countries (outside of war and the government) therefore how could you NOT link a criminal act to a tool thats ONLY PURPOSE is to commit that act?

yes, guns are designed to "kill", however this also include self defense and saving innocent lives. In most countries where guns are outlawed there still is an increase in violent crime commited with guns (England, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Kalifornia) because guess what, the bad guys don't obey the laws and you will never get rid of all of the black market guns. It is impossible to have your ideal world where *no one* has guns, because the last person who has it will use it to commit crime against the ones who don't. And let's say even if there are all of the sudden no guns left on earth, how will the weak and the meek protect themselves from criminals who are younger, stronger, better fighters and groups in numbers? Do you think criminals will then all turn into happy flower sniffing dancers and roam the field? The truth is that a weapon, a tool is NOT the cause of criminal behavior, and when one blames it all on an object, it takes away personal responsibiliy. To decrease voilent crime, we need to fix people, not an inanimate object.

Guns are bad and if everyone gave up there weapons and adopted a new policy of love and not hate then it would be good.

But since people love to kill people we may never be safe, getting rid of guns is not the answer litmiting who gets them helps. There is no clear salution but lets face it take away the guns people will make swords etc.

                            End the hate.
                            End the killing.

just because criminals use illegal guns doesnt meanguns arnt the problem, as i saad before i am talking about a perfect world, and i didnt say this could be acheived, its hypothetical.

I am not saying that the gun is responsible for all killing, im just saying you cant seperate it from killing because thats what its designed for,.

i have to go now but will argue more later.
