Ebaum's World: As Nasty as They Wanna Be

I am sure you all know about Eric Bauman's tactics on obtaining content for his site. Well, he did it again. Of course, most of you know this is not unique at all, so why I am making a thread? Well, he managed to pull off his most ridiculous heist in the history of his website.

On June 8th, the website Albino Blacksheep posted a quality animation called "Animator vs Animation". In just a short span of a few hours, the animations was decompiled and posted on the eBaum's World frontpage.

Eric "The Biggest Douche in the universe" Bauman removed the blurb on the animation which credited AlbinoBlacksheep.

Now guess what. They aren't going to fucking take his shit. According to the creator of the animation and the webmaster of Albino Blacksheep, they are going to take legal action against Eric Bauman's immoral tactics.

I give my full support to the webmasters at Albino Blacksheep and wish the best of luck to punish this prick.

That answers one of my questions. . . .

Albino Blacksheep is host of the fantastic "Posting and You" animation that should be "newbie" required viewing.

I really despise plagiarism. t3h r34l d34dly lawyers will have to comment, but I would think--from my extensive viewing of Law & Order--that AB could at least force a "cease-and-desist." If this prick gets advertising revenue, that may constitute a recoverable damage.

He had it coming to him. And LOL at one of Bauman's employees saying that there's no rules and regulations on the internet. Sheesh.

Infact, the whole entire reason this issue is so heated is because Eric does get money from all the ads he puts on his site.

It honestly depends on whether Albino has taken the appropriate steps to protect it's proprietary work in the past. If eBaum is the first instance of someone taking their shit they need to set a precedent and vigorously go after anyone who is stealing any content which was created by Albino and can be argued to be Albino's exclusive creation.

If what you say is true, and eBaum has directly altered the original product created by Albino, Albino's lawyers will have leg up. But yes, their lawyers need to send a very strong "cease and desist" letter and then they need to pursue appropriate copyright protection to avail themselves of the federal and state laws that are in place to protect their work product.

It is a question of intellectual property. The owner of the proprietary information or creation needs to take all reasonable steps to protect its crap. Intellectual property maybe afforded protection at common law but the question is always "how much was I actually damaged by that douchbag who took my property or idea". As a corporation you need to follow both your state and federal copyright protection laws to avail yourself of potential civil remedies found in the statutes, i.e., if you can not show that your business was actually damaged in a financial sense you at least can have the violator hit with X amount dollars for each violation. Intellectual property law and corporate protection of such proprietary information, or trade secret information, in a much deeper and complicated matter depending on the particular facts of the matter in issue............but this is a very general light speed overview.

Which reminds me of a good joke.

Q: What sort of birth control do lawyers use?

                      A: Their personalities.

I actually thought it was well known. Perhaps it can be a "sticky" in NewbieTown?
