Just letting you guys know I'm gonna be gone for a little more than a week, come midnight tonight.

Some of you know this, some don't.

Next Sunday, April 30th, I'll take my vows to become a member of the Chungsan Sangha at Gakhwangsa here in Baltimore, under the lineage and teaching of Pohwa-sunim.

Just to avoid confusion...this does not mean I'm becoming a monk. I'm becoming a lay practitioner. That means I can still get married. I'll receive a dharma name from Sunim and a kasa (shawl).

I'll be spending pretty much all of my free time for the rest of this week at the temple in preparation, with the exception of a good friend's birthday. Lots of sitting meditation, kongan (koan, riddles) practice...maybe a tea ceremony or two. Sunim is a martial artist as well, so maybe I'll get into some fun stuff. He frequently references martial arts in his teachings.

If any of the Mods or Admins could do me the courtesy of banning me until next Sunday, the 30th. Bullshido is a great place, and its greatness is addicting. I don't want to have the temptation on my mind.

I second this one, it's good times for everyone. A few months ago I managed to get about half of my platoon ordained and various other people in the company wether they wanted to or not.
