    How much would YOU pay???

There is a Gracie Barra BJJ school here in Alaska. The instructor is a Gracie BJJ blackbelt, and from what the sudents at other jusitsu schools up here have told me, they are setting the standard(not suprised). With the level of expertise and the dedication to training the instructors have put in to achieve that rank makes them highly saught after. So, how much WOULD you pay and how much DO you pay if you train at a Gracie BJJ school with a certified Gracie blackbelt instructor.

Here is thier site if anyone wants to check it out. http://bjjalaska.com/

Before I moved out of town, I was paying $85 for twice a week and sometimes $100 for unlimited.

Why do you ask? Is it negotiable?

I train at a Gracie Barra school. My instructor is a brown belt.
      It's $78 AUD a month but I paid $750 AUD for a year upfront.

If it's what you want to do and you can afford it, then whats the gripe?

In South Florida, schools that offer BJJ 5 times a week like ATT or Punch Fitness would charge you like $120 to $150 a month for unlimited access with some sort of downpayment (which would include gloves if they include some sort of MMA training) and a contract of 12 months. Anything above that would be too expensive regardless of the quality... in my opinion.

The price is not outragous, and after re-reading my post I realize that it may sound as though that is what I am getting at. They charge $100 a month for unlimited classes or you can buy a punch card which I believe comes out to 12.99 a session or somthing to that effect. The price is in line with most of the other MA schools here in town, but I was wondering what other Gracie BJJ schools are charging more then anything else. There are classes offered mon-friday from 7 to 9 pm and open mat from 2 to 3:30 on satruday.

I figure if you're paying more than $75/month, it's a rip off. But you're in Alaska, so you should be used to ripoffs.

That price is actually very reasonable for black belt instruction.

Renzo Gracie's school in New York City is I believe $250 a month for unlimited classes. (I could be wrong, please correct me if I am)

Gracie Barra in Seattle is $105/mo for unlimited classes with two blackbelt instructors at two locations. I think it's a pretty decent deal personally...

                    You're wrong. I'm pretty sure it's 200.

Only you can decide if a price is "worth it".
Good training and a bunch of good people to train with is worth alot.
Most instructors will charge the going rate of the particular area the Club is in.
The same instructor may charge different fees for different Area's.
A nice big, clean gym in Downtown L.A. may be 250.00 a Mo. while the smaller school out in Palm Desert is 75.00 a Mo. for the same training. Why? Higher rent, more taxes, more advertising, all can be a factor.
The trick is to check around and learn as much as you can before joining any Club. If you take a couple introductory classes, and work a payment arrangement that you can deal with, go for it.

Reasonable for a BB. I was paying more in '94 if you want a comparison.

                            I train for free.

When I leave this town, paying for martial arts is going to make me very unhappy.

damn you pansy ass grapple fags get your pants pulled down both in class and via your wallet. I pay 50 NZ a month which is like 30 dollars US) for 4-5 days a week training at the best gym in the country.

although we do train in a church basement and have to provide all our own equipment except bags
