He had a mixed race baby, and apparently took pretty good care of her too.

Not that he let this on to his constituency, or anything.

You're saying he was only pretending to be a racist pretending not to be a racist?

This raises a good questoin, which is more racist, the belief in undermining a race, or the practice of undermining a race?

I believe he was a typical politician - he followed the winds of change whenever he needed to maintian his career.

He also was one of the first southern politicians to hire a black person as a staffer.

But, having grown up in south carolina myself, I think he was a major career racist. If he ever repented, he certainly did not do a mea culpa sufficient to atone for his sins.

He also had very ugly hair implants.

My favorite quotes of all time about Strom Thurmond is a pretend dialogue by David Cross on "It's Not Funny."

"I'll fuck the help, but I will not give them a decent wage."

"My johnson is color blind and it is the bane of my existence."

In real life, he was probably an unrepetant racist. There isn't much evidence suggesting otherwise. He might have mellowed out in his old age, but I doubt he ever really changed his views.

He's a politician. The only sincere emotions politicians have are lust, hate, and fear.

And in Strom's case all three were focused on black people.

LOL. They'll be too busy raping the souls of unbatised orphans.
