OW! My eye, it hit my eye!

My school just added a boxing class and I get started this Sunday. I have a question for the boxers in the house. Is it safe to wear contact lenses while training boxing? I have never had any trouble in Judo or BJJ while wearing them, but was not sure if it was a good idea while boxing.

Also if someone could recommend a good brands for mouth guard and hand wraps I would appreciate it.
Is Wayne Brady gonna have to choke a bitch?

soft lenses are just fine. You run the risk of having it peeled out of your eye, but my eye doctor assures me that it is fine to engage in any contact sport wearing soft lenses.

    For your equipment needs:

    Ringside or Everlast
    two very old, reliable companies.
And lo, Kano looked down upon the field and saw the multitudes. Amongst them were the disciples of Uesheba who were greatly vexed at his sayings. And Kano spake: "Do not be concerned with the mote in thy neighbor's eye, when verily thou hast a massive stick in thine ass".

I've had them punched out of my eye occasionally, but I've lost them in ground more often. It'll happen, but it's better than boxing in glasses.

        That civilisation may not sink,
        Its great battle lost,
Quiet the dog, tether the pony
        To a distant post;
Our master Caesar is in the tent
        Where the maps are spread,
        His eyes fixed upon nothing,
        A hand under his head.

Precisely! Much better to get beaten like a bat than to fight like a man. Or something.

Anyway there is a guy with 17 degrees of myopia at the gym who cannot afford either glasses or contact lenses, and he can and will fight anyone there. So I refuse to complain about my pitiful 4.5 degrees.

When I read the topic title, all I could think about was some bad moneyshot in an amatuer porn...

Anyway, as others have said, soft lenses will get knocked out. I got in the habit of removing them before sparring. Means you won't see how ugly you're making your sparring partner look ;-)

Hard to smell with a nose full of fist.

Am I the only one who likes that smell when your nose gets bloodied? To bad it hurts.

For the love of god don't wear glasses. I was practising yesterday and noticed my partner (newbie) tried to practise a right hook by squatting, so I feinted it and threw a left uppercut and his glasses went flying about 6 feet where they hit a wall and fell to the ground.
Get contacts would be my opinion.

I have contacts, that was the question. If I should wear my contacts when training or not. I would never actually spar in glasses I would take them off first.

I wear contacts when sparring too and the only downside is that they do have a tendency to pop out and then you gotta stop and spend a minute to look for them.
I'm definatly going for laser eye surgery if I can ever afford it.

Shockdoctor mouthguards are good, and not too expensive.
