    Million Dollar Baby (SPOILER ALERT)

    That civilisation may not sink,
    Its great battle lost,
Quiet the dog, tether the pony
    To a distant post;
Our master Caesar is in the tent
    Where the maps are spread,
    His eyes fixed upon nothing,
    A hand under his head.

The boxing was better than the sad display of Will Smith's in Ali.

Man I loved Ali. I thought that movie was great. Of course Million Dollar was great too. Her accent was generic white trash.

        I agree

I thought it was a good movie.

I do agree with you on her character being too perfect. There was no mention of revenge in the slightest towards the german man (read:woman) for rendering her body useless.

"When we were kings" was 100 times better than Ali.

Note: I haven't seen the movie yet.

I have heard from a number of sources that the movie is incredibly demeaning and insulting to people with disabilities, namely because it implies that there are few options for the disabled to receive care and that death is a welcome release from an apparent lifetime of suffering.

The issue has received a lot of press in the Chicago Tribune, both in the editorial section from this past Sunday, and in the Arts/Entertainment (Tempo) sections of the paper.

I'll try to post articles when I can.

Agree with Ronin69, when we were kings was powerful stuff.

Million Dollar Baby was a total surprise to me... When she was fighting the last fight I was sighing to myself 'oh great, another Rocky movie, she's going to almost lose and then kick her ass. YAWN!'

But then all that shit happened and totally threw me... Very sad, very powerful... Good movie.

Morgan Freeman should have had a better character too.

What bothered me the most was the obvious good vs evil thing.

Then whatever you do, don't watch 'The Little Mermaid'.

Fat people disgust me in every way imaginable. I was at Freindly's with my girl tonight and saw a bunch of fat fuckers. I felt sorry for the pavement they were killing and the people who had to see them. .

In the original tale, the little mermaid dies.

On the other hand, people can take just about anything too seriously.

Anyways, I saw this movie last Friday. Probably because I was in a shitty mood (couldn't get a ride after movie, didn't buy any popcorn/pop, had a cold, etc) I didn't enjoy it as much as I should've.
I agree that whatsherface was too 'good' for poor white trash, but ah well, its a movie eh?
I was dissapointed in the family, they tried too hard to get the crowd to hate them. 'Good' evil characters manage to make you pissed off whether you want too or not in my opinion.
Someone else brought it up too, but there were no apparent reprocussions for that...she-man...last 'fighter'. After legal issues were settled, the title of the movie should have been called '50 million dollars for mental and physical anguish' baby.

But like I said, I was just in a pissy mood when I went to go see it.
Too bad there weren't more montages where she's training hard, those are sometimes the best parts of the film *cough* Rocky *cough*.

I was told not to see the movie, because of the ending.
