Simliar, but its a Judo one done to a guy in the turtle position, he learned it from Gene LeBell.

Aside from the flashy elbows and knees, the clinching they did was crappy with an easy to break grip.
Also, and I'm curious to know since my family is watching it right now, what about Best of the Best was not ridiculous?

I got all misty-eyed during Best of the Best. XD
Other martial arts movies that had realistic depictions of what styles they showed?
Taboo
Zatoichi (the Kitano version)
And I seriously can't think of anything else. I really loved Prodigal Son and Magnificent Butcher, but if fights were stop-block-hop-punch-block-hop-stop-pose-kick, then, well... that'd be kinda cool.

Dude! The Karate Kid!
I mean he tries to learn karate from a book and gets his butt whupped by the local bad boys that actually train at a karate school. That right there makes it more realistic than Bloodsport.
I can't really think of any MA films with a cool realistic brawlish portrayal. I think that would kinda go against the genre wouldn't it? But Fight Club had some cool fights in it (see, not a MA film). Another great movie fighter...Bruce Willis in Die Hard was totally str33t.

I grew up with the Shintaro Katsu Zatoichi movies... I guess what really made the Kitano version for me wasn't Kitano himself, but Asano Tadanobu, who's a tremendous chanbara actor in general. As slick as the frosty-haired Kitano Takeshi was, he didn't exactly make the movie for me.
And yeah, we can all change (according to cheesy-cool fighting-sport movie science), especially when we're getting the crap kicked out of us in any form of martial arts competition. When your right eye's hanging somewhere down around your jaw, that counts as a pretty damn big change. XD

Movie greats
"No Retreat, No Surrender" was one of my favorite movies as a kid. Who didnt fantasize about Bruce Lee comming back from the dead and training you. Plus you get to see Jean Claude beat up.
When i was competing in local Karate Tournaments in high school i used to make sure to watch Bloodsport before a competition. One time i was headed to a tourney in Vegas and actually bought the soundtrack because i wasnt gonna be able to watch the flick. Kumite..Kumite..Kumite..Kumite...
