Fight Night Round 2 Boxing Sim

I've just rented this game for XBOX. It takes a bit to get used to the controls, but once you've got it, the game is the most realistic boxing game ever! I like that you can stick and move, block and move, move while ducking and block while swaying. It's innovative and fun, I recommend this game for any boxing fan.

Played Fight Night 2004. Fucking awesome awesome awesome game. It's kinda cheap after a while because using the face buttons to punch and switching to the analog when you want to block is a lot easier and faster than using the analog to punch AND block. And the control is actually best on the PS2 because of the size and position of the analog sticks. Can't wait to get it, but games take forever to come out here in Australia.

Has anyone played both this and the original? I love the original and was wondering if this one is different enough to make it a worthwhile purchase.

There's apparently a new cutman feature in between rounds, and they've added a "haymaker" punch which you can modify by pressing down on the analog stick (this is for PS2, don't know how it's done with other consoles). It's basically a harder, stronger than regular punch used for KOing tired opponents. Other than that they've just tightened up the punching system so that it's quicker. Apparently there are other smaller benefits and things, but I'll need to actually PLAY it to be sure. The rest, I know from reading reviews and such. The quicker punching system sounds really good though. It was very hard to throw proper combinations with the analog stick because it was too slow, so a lot of people resorted to using face buttons.

It's a decent game. The cutman feature is a minigame in between rounds where you've got to guide the cutman's hands to smooth out swelling or q-tip cuts.
You can buy ring girls which add to your stamina. You can buy music which adds to your "heart". The punching seemed slow to me, but as my character built up speed, it got faster. I used the analog stick because you can switch punches (feignt). The haymaker is basically a very hard shot which leaves your face wide open while you chamber it. It does alot of damage and opens cuts.

Nice... I will need to get this, but I need to finish my current plethora of games.
