Oh come on, everyone knows Judo is a sport, and not a real MA. All it has are throws, and you would NEVER use those in a fight, they don't look nearly cool enough.

That's right. Since when does groundfighting EVER work? Pfft.

      Seriously:

They couldn't have named it "Which martial arts look totally sweet" because Capoeira wasn't in there and Kali was dead last at 9..

They should've named it "Which martial arts do untrained people sitting in an office contemplating a show for the discovery channel deem the totally coolest." but that would take up too much space on TV guide...Someone needs to e-mail them and tell them all this shit. Especially about JukoKai..sad..

Just about every show I've seen on martial arts has a strong Bullshido component. Why? The show mentioned above has Kali, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. After all of these systems have been researched and seen
There is no effctive or non effective styles, only training methods and practitioners. Every style has been effective in the past and that's why nit survived to the rpesent age. It has proved its usefullnes in the past.

I'm totally up for writing them. If others did the same I feel that it might get more attention. Maybe a little Bullshido letter writing campaign of sorts?

On a slightly related topic I have been considering writing myth busters to debunk the myth of dim mak. Chi/Ki as a whole would be near impossible to disprove, but no touch knockdowns would largely be easy and quick. Maybe when I am feeling productive I will sit down and fire off some e-mails.

Great idea. I'd like to see a that on an episode of Mythbusters...The only thing you have to worry about is a nice "Well you're not trained to take the no touch knockdown/knockout so we can't do it on you." (like in that news clip)

''Martial Arts: Way of the Warrior.'' Relationship between a Japanese master and disciple; new systems of warrior arts. (60 minutes) Sports, non-event
All it featured in a one hour show, was Karate (Okinawan), Juko Kai (insert sigh), Ninjutsu and Aikido....

If not mythbusters, try Penn & Teller. They already have done a show bashing Feng Sheu(sp).

The program is at least 5 years old and is nothing but filler.

I wrote the "learning channel" (where I first saw it) years ago concerning the fact that jukokai is a well known fake art. The response I recieved indicated that the "learning channel" is not responsible for the content of its programming as it was purchased by an outside producer.

But really, what can you expect from network that does "house makeovers" and "wedding planning" shows?

                  cheers,

                  bamboo
