I was at the forefront of hydroponics in the early 90's.

    Left behind, once again.

    Alas

Now a life of ale and melatonin. Both for sleep although one wakes me up nightly. To piss and go back asleep.

    Goodnight cruel world.

One of my associates is a hydro guy but it seems like he's constantly at war with testing compliance and getting product adequately flushed at harvest. I've tried making concentrate from hydro a few times but I've had too many fail testing (and taste terrible) from excess nutrients to mess with it again.

Hydro sounds great in theory but in practice it seems like it's very hard to pull off right.

It was morning when you posted this.

Maybe you're just a biphasic sleeper like me.

You can tell us by our mutual love of siesta.

That, I guess is the reason the growers here are using soil. I never had more than the four plants growing at a time. Each in a five gallon bucket fed by a constant drip. Easier to maintain pH and nutrients as all were fed by the same reservoir.

Yeah. That sounds right. 100 plants is considered a small room in this market.

We're but one card in that dirty played deck. I suggest some here do an attempt to discern history without bias. This starts by actually doing studying.

I am not an apologist for where this country has done wrong. Here, there and everywhere. But, conquest, influence and other means to better or enrich your own is as old as the history of man.

There is a lot of shit at play in the region. There are no simple solutions. Fuck Iran. It will implode eventually. This is a country with the legacy of the great Persian empire. Wrest the country from the control of the Islamist fundamentalists and the people will rejoice. We don't have to attack but merely support the populace.

Then again, I don't see them detaining a couple of boats of Navy Seals, confiscating their equipment and posturing for the world while the Orange One is Commander in Chief.

              Anyone remember that?
Discern history without bias? That is not possible. There is no middle ground of rationality. Usually those historians who claim lack of bias simply embrace the dominant hegemony. Many political scientists, historians, sociologists and such consider 1955 America as the norm, which is just wonderful as long as your name wasn’t Emmett Till.

And no, l can’t say Fuck Iran. As long as we live in denial, l can say fuck the USA. Like Cheney telling the Iraqis to not think of us as conquerers, think of us as liberators. Cheney, of course, like all neocons, is ahistorical. He doesn’t care for history because he is a neocon fuck twit; if you show Iraqis capitalism and democracy they will be instant converts. However Iraqis weren’t converted because they know their history. In 1916 Britain invaded Iraq and got wiped out by the Ottoman Turks. The largely Indian enlisted men army died in captivity. They came back with air support, fire bombing Iraqi towns. When the Iraqis cried uncle they got their goal, the Basra oil field. And the British General said, don’t think of us as conquerers, think of us as liberators.

Reminds me of the wife, who worked in an office in downtown Hilo (which had no white women, here it’s less than 10% of population that is local caucasian, haole, almost all of whom are married to brown people) said once, “Mainland haoles come here to work and after a couple months they say, the locals aren’t friendly, they don’t like white people. So they go back to the mainland.”

That is white privilege. It’s like if you are a businessman from Salt Lake City, the only brown people you know clean your motel room or make you a taco. You assume your culture is the norm. And in Hilo you will walk right into a brick wall.

To think historically without bias usually means accepting colonialism as a norm. Hawaiians, and the brown descendants of all the imported plantation workers do not accept this as a norm. Awareness of colonialism is a powerful current these days in Hawaii. Which makes Hawaiian people allies of the oil pipeline activists.

If anyone is still reading, sorry for the tangents and verbosity, the kids are putting the baby down, the wife is getting ready for bed and I am finishing off Dominican rum with cider!

The "brown Hawaiians" colonized Hawaii a handful of centuries before the next colonists came along.

People move around, fight with each other, there are winners, there are losers, and it is quite common for the winners of one generation of colonization to be the losers in subsequent periods of colonization.

It's a recurring theme in human civilization, and no one people has the market on being colonists, or subsequently being on the losing end of future struggles...

Yes, who brought the invasive species to Hawaii? I mean besides themselves.

It's the brown people's fault. They settled on a sweet spot and didn't want the, what is the term? Haole? Taking their land for, wait for it....

It's another dark part of our history but it's way back.

It's Hawaiʻiloa's fault. He was named for Maui, the Kupua, but he was just a normal man.

                              Get this shit.

Iranian government claimed they arrested the people responsible and then arrested the guy who recorded the video.

Yeah. Poor probably guy didn't even know what he was filming at the time. Jesus.

It gets weirder. The guy who originally posted the video and know the identity of the actual person who filmed it says that they have arrested the wrong person and his source is safe in hiding.

                                Damn.
