This would not be the first time ISIS (which has stolen and used US, Russian, Syrian, and Iraqi vehicles and weapons of all types) attacked deep within Iran.

They've already attacked the Iranian Parliament. They are, for all purposes, an enemy of both Iran and America. So, blowing up a plane to escalate both sides, in a window of just a few hours of trading missile barrages, makes perfect sense.
Besides, there's still no evidence at all it was a SA-15. It could easily have been a MANPADS launched from one guy. Range fits, altitude fits, speed of missile fits. Fuel type is a definite fit.
So my money is on terrorist MANPADS. Your move!
