In the end you really only have one, no matter how good the ideology of small scooped government sounds, it's an unrealistic expectation, with the governance of 330 million people, 50 states, 19,500 cities, 3.797 million square miles, and a 22.32 trillion dollar economy.
Scope is always going to creep, to meet those needs and their are a lot of needs.

Then the fun part of dissolution/fragmentation and then inevitable excision or pogrom of those different. That was the old pressure pressure release valve for empires grown too large. Is there a new one, or just a different twist on the old one?
Well they are "guided" in a very rudimentary sense. The Iranian missiles(all to my knowledge) rely upon a very rudimentary inertial guidance system. Which means you need to know the exact coordinates of launch and target to get an accurate hit. Even then it is more to "within a target window". When they fired them into Israel from Syria, about half of them hit/had terminal ballistics for Arab villages, not the cities that they were aiming for.

Advanced guided missiles are both prohibitively expensive(upward of $2mUSD each) and very technologically advanced. Iran has neither the military budget nor the tech to do that. To put it into relative numbers, the US spends $55 Billion(yes Billion with a B) in its rather limited involvement in Syria each year. Iran's total military budget is $13.2 BillionUSD. In other words the US spends more than 4 times as much on a single side show than Iran does its entire military complex. There is no military parity here. Iran is hard set on picking a fight it cannot win, all because the Ayatollah believes he is the Twelfth Imam and destined to extend Islamic rule over the whole world with the help of Allah.
And there you have it. This is what is driving Iran.

Not the majority of the Iranian people.

They live under a theocratic dictatorship driven by beliefs not dissimilar to those Christians who believe in the second coming of Christ.

Except the Christians are not at the head of a theocracy, nor supporting regional/global terrorism.

Ideally Trump will announce a new round of sanctions against Iran and its proxies today, Iran will go back to being its typical shitty self in the shadows, and all of the people who were convinced they heard the drums of Armageddon beating last night can go predict a new date for Trump to end the world.

Special kudos to the EU for their incredibly strong response. Really taking that world leadership thing seriously. What fantastic allies we have.
The EU sees too much money to be made selling shit to Iran. It's been that way all along, and was a big part of their enthusiastic support of the Iran nuke deal.

Maybe they feel more comfortable with the ancient Persian empire being in charge rather than a bunch of tribalist Arabs ? Who have a bunch of their own money anyway.

yeah, people can suck balls, regardless of however they are labeled.

Shitty behavior and beliefs are equally spread among the world population.

Hence their rallying to criticize the US strike on Soulimani whilst the UK PM refused to do the same.

The pro EU press here are saying it is because of the trade deal Boris Johnson wants to do with with the US which is partly true but it is also because well most the the UK government probably think it was a great idea and I would be real money that Boris Johnson did know about it and gave his support for it privately hence not coming back from his holiday early as he was expecting it and thus wasnt shocked into doing anything immediately.
As I've said before, the UK and US need to make a "free" trade deal of some sort.

Fuck the EU, they invaded the UK back in the day and look what happened. Poor Saxons...damned colonial Normans...

Let's make a YUGE trade deal with you Brits, I'm all for it. Once your economy takes off because of it (and maybe even more trade deals with the Americas in general), you can beef up your military.

Then we can revive the British Empire, but as a coalition of the US and the UK. The sun will never set on it!

                  This is your problem.
You have decided what happened and are confirmation biasing your way into believing it more and more.

So, the Iranians get the black boxes. That makes sense, they need to be safeguarded until turned over to appropriate authorities. So the Iranians getting the boxes and safeguarding them seems like SOP at this point.

I wonder if the Iranians can even get into them ? and if they do, if the tampering will show up. I bet it will, if it happens. They must have something similar to our NTSB and or FAA, right ?

Wait, I just saw that the Iranians said they will turn them over to Boeing...

                    Perhaps problem solved.

Seems legit to me, if so.

I get that Ghost makes a lot wild accusations in posts, particularly in this thread, but the timing of this whole event sure is suspicious. I'd be curious to see who might have been on that flight.

Not saying it was one thing or another, but I will be interested to see what comes of it.

100% the it could be nefarious, also that plane just had mechanical service. So it's just as likely that was fucked up and nothing about when and where that failure happened has anything to do with anything.

No lie, if I change the president's name, the country and the parties the hyperbole sounds just like Obama's critics.
