The US has not needed foreign oil for decades.

And does not need it for the next century at least.

And that is without factoring in reinvigorating shale extraction and deep oil extraction advances,

    or increased investment in nuclear,

and assuming no growth in renewables.

And those last three points would of course go down as well unless the meteor hits,

    so centuries, really.

My grandpa was also severely biased against the Japanese. Pearl Harbor was part of that but I think what really incensed him was the Japanese treatment of Allied POWs. At the end of the war he was assigned as medical personal at an Allied POW camp for German officers and a lot of his funnier stories were about playing harmless pranks on the German officers. Like shouting Achtung and watching the high ranking Nazi Officer Corps all click their heels together and shout Hail Hitler at a confused Corporal from nowhere Mississippi carrying an armload of fresh underwear.

Good old American ribbing that wasn't meant to do any harm but he was clearly outside of himself when it came to the war crimes of the Axis powers. He was far too ultra-Christian to hate regular people but I don't think there was any difference between how he felt about the Axis power leadership and Satan himself.

Aww just what I was looking for a map:

Look at how "far" that airplane got, it didn't have enough time to get up to altitude to be hit by AA missile.

You can also cross reference it with this map and see nope certainly not an AA missile.

Some other fuckery maybe but this is why you should look at evidence first.

If I can be bothered I may put together an irony post.

No lie, if I change the president's name, the country and the parties the hyperbole sounds just like Obama's critics.

100% the it could be nefarious, also that plane just had mechanical service. So it's just as likely that was fucked up and nothing about when and where that failure happened has anything to do with anything.

So, the Iranians get the black boxes. That makes sense, they need to be safeguarded until turned over to appropriate authorities. So the Iranians getting the boxes and safeguarding them seems like SOP at this point.

I wonder if the Iranians can even get into them ? and if they do, if the tampering will show up. I bet it will, if it happens. They must have something similar to our NTSB and or FAA, right ?

Wait, I just saw that the Iranians said they will turn them over to Boeing...

    Perhaps problem solved.

Seems legit to me, if so.

    This is your problem.
You have decided what happened and are confirmation biasing your way into believing it more and more.
Instead of waiting for the evidence, and expert analysis done when the most amount of evidence is available.
    Stop.

The pro EU press here are saying it is because of the trade deal Boris Johnson wants to do with with the US which is partly true but it is also because well most the the UK government probably think it was a great idea and I would be real money that Boris Johnson did know about it and gave his support for it privately hence not coming back from his holiday early as he was expecting it and thus wasnt shocked into doing anything immediately.
As I've said before, the UK and US need to make a "free" trade deal of some sort.

Fuck the EU, they invaded the UK back in the day and look what happened. Poor Saxons...damned colonial Normans...

Let's make a YUGE trade deal with you Brits, I'm all for it. Once your economy takes off because of it (and maybe even more trade deals with the Americas in general), you can beef up your military.

Then we can revive the British Empire, but as a coalition of the US and the UK. The sun will never set on it!
