Good. Let's pull all US troops out of the Middle East entirely while we are at it.

Now we have the perfect excuse to do so.

Let them fix their own problems.

Can you find a post here wherein anyone voiced support for an invasion?

I fully expect you to weasel out on this one too.

Inaction to an attack on an embassy, can lead to continuing attacks on the US and it's interest till we have no choice but go to war. Hitting the guy in charge of those attacks is not an escalation it's a you better fucking stop move.
We are not the aggressors here.

We already took action and had secured the embassy well before we blew Soleimani to kingdom come.

Cool, you know what you just said, oh the computer blue screened, but I rebooted it and now it works so its all good.
No need to go in and trouble shoot and remove the root cause.

Or lets try it medically, oh your heart stopped working, lets go in perform CPR, oh it started again, I guess you don't need to see a cardiologist.

Oh a burglar broke into your house, but they left when the police showed up, I guess the police have no need to purse the burglar.

Oh a Bully punched you in the nose, but you where able to walk away that day, I guess your safe now.

Oh Iran attached US Soil, but you know we where able to re-secure it I guess its all good now.

Attacks on our Soil have to have consequences that are greater than us just getting it back to the status quo.

                  Maybe, but...........
Their problems can quickly become our problems in many ways, I don't like seeing my friends, family, neighbors, training partners, heck even co-workers, put into harms way so that we can go around playing world cop.
However the inaction of someone playing world cop might be more costly in the end.
Its hard to say what would/will happen cause we can't see what the world would look like if we let the middle east spiral out of control, or if we let aggressor states just gobble up territory.
Especially when some of that territory is important to global energy production(surprisingly though not as important to the US as many think).
Even more so when those states become willing and able to build nuclear weapons. A nuke going off in the middle east does impact us.

So I don't know if its better for us to be there or not, I really don't and it would be foolish to claim otherwise.
But I do know us not being there does have negative consequences for us.

You'll be hard put to paint anyone posting in this thread regardless of age or political views as a warmonger. But feel free to keep posting your vapid little barbs. I/we expect nothing less.

Have you ever considered you may be wrong?

You ever play let's see who has to pay the bar tab for everybody?

The Middle East is a huge money pit.

More specifically it is a huge wealth redistribution engine.

We are not taking more money out than we are putting in,

and have not been to the tune of amounts that begin with the letter "T".

Middle Eastern oil is the gift of a White Elephant that requires far more expense in food and care than it ever provides back in useful return.

I would be DELIGHTED to have China or Russia take a turn at playing mediator in that region.

Let China pay for that White Elephant, let China have their oil, and let the Middle East hate China for the next several decades,

as the tribes in those regions endlessly scheme against each other,

and argue about which tribe and which idea the invisible Magic Man in the sky who hates bacon,

prefers to conquer the world, and enslave, kill, or tax all non-believers, as they believe Allah intended.

Being a participant in the Middle East is even less fun as going to a time share sales pitch continental breakfast with stale doughnuts.

This is an invitation to a party that I think we should return to the sender and leave.

And we should take our leave in the ancient Irish style, without so much as a goodbye, farewell, but only a trail of dust to mark our utter absence from continuing to police or give aid to the region.

                            Not that much.

We might be much better off if some of the countries there nuked each other a little bit.

And then, those catastrophic events of biblical proportions might slate their thirst for war, and martyrdom, and religious mania for the next century.

In many respects I agree with you, this I especially agree let China and Russia play it, we don't need the oil but they do need a baby sitter.
If only because shit spiraling out of control there can have much more negative impacts other than just the oil.
