The Iranians can't move in mass due to ISIS, while you cannot hold land with Air Power alone, you can stop armies from moving with it.
Especially if they have no supply lines and no command and control capabilities.
As well as they can't abandon their own territory in mass either as we have the force projection capabilities to move in from other bases we have in the area as well as the sea.
Iraq is a benefit to us but we don't actually need it lets not forget all of those Air Bases we have in Saudi Arabia and those pesky floating Air Bases.

Yes, we could wipe them off the face of the map,literally. However, they have a LOT of troops and tanks. Enough, if they all out invade, to get in there and occupy cities and infrastructure in Iraq. Once they are there, what are we going to do, level Baghdad et al ? Plus the militias they have that will back them there, and probable asymmetric attacks that I suspect would launch simultaneously around the middle east etc.

I wrote earlier, attack their CandC, and go all out against any nuke facilities they have that we have located, their fanatical leadership, bases, etc. Great excuse to set their nuke stuff back to the stone age, use it.

But don't knock out stuff that will significantly hurt civilians, like water, damns, electricity, etc. The military has generators anyway.

I'll disagree. He got cocky. He'd lived a long time in the shadows and around five years ago started coming out in the public eye. Because Iran had been held little in responsibility for their actions.
