Russia is an oil producing country. Russia would profit if Iran were not able to sell their oil. It wouldn't just be China paying more, it would be the entire world.
that would be great for the American economy. Would revive all the fracking/horizontal oil-shale/gas stuff if price of oil went up for a few years to the $100/bbl or up range. Now that it's legal to export US oil now.

Same for Klanadia, with their Alberta Tar Sands production.

My oil stock would go up, hell yeah. Let's let this last until at least 3 more years, will help my retirement greatly.

I dont believe this is correct. We would wipe them off the map from air power and artillery from sea.

If Iran launched a full scale invasion of Iraq then they would have to deal with the Arabian Peninsula.

No, it won't. Iran has short supply lines into Iraq, and troops on the ground there already. They will roll in and take over, including over our small amount of troops there on the ground.

We can't stop a ground invasion with air power only, not in this case.

If the Iranian backed shia take over the government, they can just invite the Iranians in...

The Iranians can't move in mass due to ISIS, while you cannot hold land with Air Power alone, you can stop armies from moving with it.
Especially if they have no supply lines and no command and control capabilities.
As well as they can't abandon their own territory in mass either as we have the force projection capabilities to move in from other bases we have in the area as well as the sea.
Iraq is a benefit to us but we don't actually need it lets not forget all of those Air Bases we have in Saudi Arabia and those pesky floating Air Bases.
                Nor lets not forget this:
                US Military Bases in Kuwait
Camp Arifjan Army Base in Arifjan, Kuwait. ...
Camp Doha Army Base in Kuwait Bay, Kuwait. ...
Camp Virginia Army Base in Al Jahra, Kuwait. ...
Camp Buehring Army Base in Udari, Kuwait. ...
Camp Partriot Army Base in Southeast Coast, Kuwait. ...
Camp New York Army Base in Kuwait Desert, Kuwait. ...
Camp Spearhead Army Base in Shuaiba, Kuwait.

We don't need to invade Iran, that would in fact be stupid, and play right into their hands.

Don't let them export oil. Knock out their oil transport infrastructure, but don't destroy refineries or oil fields.

Knock out C and C, and maybe target their religious fanatic leaders, knock out their coastal defenses, etc., and target all their militias in Syria, Iraq, etc.

If they do a full scale ground invasion of Iraq, or more likely, try to get surrogates to win a civil war (and there ARE Iraqies who don't want Iran running their country, for sure, a lot of them, even Shia), we can help the non-Iran backed side with that, not unlike the Kurds, but don't abandon them mid-stream.

It would take a while to get enough stuff on the ground if Iran full scale invades and takes over...

100% agree with this, and a lot of the game plan, but we don't need Iraq to fight Iran at all.
Don't forget we have had a plan to deal with Iran for years before we even had bases in Iraq.

What about a comment about certain folks stereotyped as having larger than average penises ?

Maybe throw in a a skin tone comment ? I mean, having a larger penis is seen as a good thing, so it's not an insult.

I'll disagree. He got cocky. He'd lived a long time in the shadows and around five years ago started coming out in the public eye. Because Iran had been held little in responsibility for their actions.

There are, no doubt in my mind, more of his own people joyous to see his demise. We won't see images of such. Only the mourners portrayed in mass. Remember, this is a country that recently suspended the use of the web for it's populace.

This is a country wherein the head religious dick is the supreme being. Ruler of all. Iran could have at any time an overthrow of the system. It's been brutal on any who were outspoken.

We should not be the world's police. Still, if you have to employ military action, do it balls to the wall. Hopefully Iran will talk a little more smack and realize that the CIC today is not what cut from the same deck from which they've played for decades.

Surely they're not that stupid. The Iranian people deserve better.

I've had Iranian friends for close to four decades now. Here. More than a few over the years. All are now US citizens and most couldn't go home if they wished to do so.

I have been deemed "smexy" and "extra" by people younger than ghost. Not sure if the last is good or bad.

Yes, we could wipe them off the face of the map, literally. However, they have a LOT of troops and tanks. Enough, if they all out invade, to get in there and occupy cities and infrastructure in Iraq. Once they are there, what are we going to do, level Baghdad et al ? Plus the militias they have that will back them there, and probable asymmetric attacks that I suspect would launch simultaneously around the middle east etc.

I wrote earlier, attack their CandC, and go all out against any nuke facilities they have that we have located, their fanatical leadership, bases, etc. Great excuse to set their nuke stuff back to the stone age, use it.

But don't knock out stuff that will significantly hurt civilians, like water, damns, electricity, etc. The military has generators anyway.
