Sounds like something more benign... of course, they did have 10 days to come up with this "cover story,"
AURA has been cooperating with an on-going law enforcement investigation of criminal activity that occurred at Sacramento Peak," reads the statement. "During this time, we became concerned that a suspect in the investigation potentially posed a threat to the safety of local staff and residents... My guess is the observatory accidentally recorded an encrypted terrestrial transmission and now the government wants to know how and why that happened and how to keep our enemies from doing the same.
