Sounds like something more benign... of course, they did have 10 days to come up with this "cover story,"

AURA has been cooperating with an on-going law enforcement investigation of criminal activity that occurred at Sacramento Peak," reads the statement. "During this time, we became concerned that a suspect in the investigation potentially posed a threat to the safety of local staff and residents... AURA determined that moving the small number of on-site staff and residents off the mountain was the most prudent and effective action to ensure their safety.

They don't specify that the suspect is human

I have information suggesting that it's actually Hillary Clinton, which probably explains why.

HRC and alien life are not mutually exclusive...

Still, in seriousness, a facility of "about nine employees," according to TFA. Really? Nine people, and there's a question as to who's the scumbag criminal?

This revelation definitely doesn't help the "it's not aliens," argument.

The "it's not aliens" argument is safe and safe, what with the lack of any evidence of alien life, ever.

Thats a bullshit reason, so bullshit that fbi was called and they refused to comment. One theory (according to a comment section on a news video) was the observatory was able to see a missile testing range nearby, even though i thought that was bullshit its still more believable than some crap about a suspected criminal. So dangerous that they would hangout at an observatory and get workers and residents evacuated.

Theories without evidence to back them up are next to useless, and evidence that isn't objectively verifiable by a third party is usually bullshit.

Did the telescope see Bigfoot, too? Maybe he's the suspect.

Maybe Men In Black wasn't a scfi movie - maybe it was a documentary... this proves it.

The alien can clearly mimic humans perfectly
