Apparently Lincoln Project exists literally to troll Trump.

    https://www.politico.com/news/2020/0...-voters-341928

They take out ads that will run when Trump is watching Fox News. Then they run the ads and Trump explodes on Twitter.

What's wrong with Trump? The leader of a nation should be able to keep his mouth shut and not compulsively make public statements because of political ads. I can't believe anyone thinks this guy is a qualified president.

He's a mouthy dork, but let's be honest here if entire groups have to form just to counter troll the president the problem is on both sides.

Oh and Trump also signed a new executive order protecting monuments from vandalism. I'm actually ok with this one as the statue crap is getting out of hand.

I was just thinking about this. I feel like it's honestly not a priority to protect old statues. The economy is tanking, case rates are spiking, and the response is to protect some boring statues few people would make a trip to look at anyway. How about trying to protect some lives instead? It's a cynical play to the base, a waste of time and energy.

Looks like Donald Trump's popularity is finally trending down.

              https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com...s/?cid=rrpromo

Going all the way back to Truman, only Jimmy Carter was less popular at this point in his presidency.

Which, as an aside, what the heck? What did Jimmy Carter do to deserve such contempt?

Jimmy Carter told it like it was, i.e. wear a damn sweater if your energy bill is too high, don't expect me to invade the Middle East for your supposedly self-reliant ass. I guess people don't really ever want "straight talk" even if they say that's what they want.

It's almost as if retweeting white supremacists during a nation wide protest against racism has had poor results. Either that or his supporters are finally realizing he's full of shit.

Noah Rothman, of the conservative magazine Commentary, criticizes liberals for rejecting incremental steps towards social justice in favor of nihilism and dramatic but unactionable indictments and gestures, but then kind of backhandedly criticizes Donald Trump by presenting him as an example of what happens to a political movement when you give in to these impluses: https://www.commentarymagazine.com/n...lettr-facebook

If Democrats are indeed abandoning the pursuit of incrementalism and legislative remedies to American socio-political dilemmas and opting for all-consuming culture war, the trajectory of the party’s political evolution is not unknowable. We’ve seen how movements that dedicate themselves to the expurgation of intangible facts of life—particularly things as elusive as sub rosa (even subconscious) racial biases—end up running aground. The Republican Party in the age of Trump provides some clues as to how this all ends.

At the dawn of Trump’s ascendancy to lead the GOP and, eventually, the executive branch, conservatives had adopted a fatalistic narrative about the direction in which the country was headed. But the problems that beset the nation were immune to political remedies. In 2016, the right bemoaned an increased antipathy toward law enforcement, the perception that immigrant groups were failing to assimilate, hedonistic themes in popular media products, totalitarianism on college campuses, and whatever “cultural Marxism” is. The conduct of conventional politics had failed to rectify or even address these concerns. Thus arose a permission structure that led the right to sacrifice the idea that good governance was competent governance. What the status quo needed was a good smashing.

This was a terribly self-defeating conceit. In the process of adopting the idea that cultural matters should preoccupy lawmakers, conservatives invented a set of metrics that would constitute success in government no lawmaker could hope to meet. This paradigm rendered governance itself—an unsatisfying project in which success is measured by the incremental advances that result from often painful compromise—suspect. What’s more, it blinded conservatives to the inroads they had made in transforming the culture through the powers of persuasion, example, and deductive reasoning—none of which are the fruits of legislation.

See, it's little tells like this that expose your bullshit. If you were actually being honest, you wouldn't need to say so. The problem is that you think you're cleverer than the people you hope to fool. The fact is that you're a lot dumber than we are. It's not even close.

Take a deep breath and let it all out, you might hit the target more often.

Says the disingenuous punk who just got made.

Why not try being honest? You're not smart enough to lie well.
