Comey? He's still a free man and uncharged and killing it on the talk circuit.

    Hard feelings? Ha.
I think it was a pretty good move to take those guys out of their current positions. Most of those positions require politicking and liaisons with other governments. They were all just put on a huge TV show where they were used by the Dems to smear the current CiC. That whole show would distract from their mission in the future. So move them out and put someone in who can represent the US without having all of that history coming in with them.

I would have moved them out, also just for some cooling off time, and into something less visual for a while.

Pelosi and the Dems fucked up. The progressives and others started pushing her to present early. Granted, those of us with are heads not planted firlmy up our collective asses knew this was the outcome.

Everyone would have been pissed because I would have held out forever or not impeached his ass at all.

"Smear"? I watched the testimony, it was pretty open and shut factual reporting by sworn witnesses, and was largely apolitical. And Trump doesn't need any outside help smearing himself, he's master at embarrassing himself in office in a way that makes George Bush Jr. look like a pro statesman.

Besides, Vindman's brother wasn't even involved in the impeachment, so Trump was just so angry with Vindman going on the record, he decided to not only have security escort him from the White House in public display, he also decided his brother needed retaliation too.

All of this while a large number of GOP Senators begged him not to do it. He just doesn't care about anyone unless they suck his ass.

I'd like to know how you see what they did to Bernie and Hillary in 2015 and 2016. I think I know what you're saying, but people have divergent views of what happened then and I'd like to know yours.

Yeah, I think it was a smear, because they knew it wasn't going to go through. I mean, I thought everyone knew it wouldn't go through and that this was just a political maneuver headed into the election. But I guess some Dems probably did think that the case was solid enough to get some Repubs to cross over. I doubt it though. To me it is all just a big show going on while nothing substantial gets done. Well, except the budget. They have one to fund the government which is pretty great.

My perception is that the Dems stole the nomination from Bernie and gave it to Hillary because they 1. Thought she was more electable and 2. Wanted to make history with the first female president, with that first female president also being a Democrat.

I don't see that anyone ever could have thought that the impeachment would actually remove or even remotely punish Trump. It was a political ploy nothing else. The Democrats saw it as a way to attack Trump, but the thing is Trump is a troll so by attacking him you feed him. All this impeachment has accomplished is guaranteeing Trump a round 2 in the way of reelection. The Democrats are desperate and acting stupid because of it.

Sanders isn't a team player so the Democrats were never even with a sure win going to really back him. Sanders would in a heartbeat feed the Democrats to the wolves if it served his agenda.

Let's not conflate the impeachment process with the whistleblower process.

The whistleblower process went fine, according to the DNI himself. All Vindman did was testify about the role he played.

So it's really important to separate the Democrat's case (and bipartisan vote count..) from the actual complaint. Which, according to all the available evidence, was of legitimate concern to everyone involved, from the whistleblower on up to the Director.

It really doesn't make sense to fire Vindman, especially given how it will effect US-Ukraine relations. Trump fucked with Ukraine's aid, got caught, then intimated and fired the witnesses. Because they made him look bad? Vindman didn't do anything wrong other than report for duty..

Of course the bigger story is the devoutly conservative GOP leader who voted to remove Trump from office and is now being called a traitor.

It'll be really, really interesting to see how the vote effects the Senate floor in November. The GOP might easily lose the Senate, just based on their spinelessness.

It's pretty simple. Vindman stated repeatedly in his written report and his testimony that he felt like Trump's actions in the phone call were inappropriate and that he shouldn't be doing them. Trump believes that his actions were appropriate. Trump was impeached for said actions. Trump is still in office. Trump reassigns the subordinate who disagrees with his methods and actions and will assign someone else to do that job. That person will also remain in that position until Trump feels like they do not see eye to eye on his methods and actions. Then they will be reassigned. Wash and repeat until Trump is no longer in office.

Possibly, or the opposite, or things stay the same.

They split the votes, there is enough proof out there they screwed with Bernie‘s campaign, forced Bernie to capitulate, put a woman in who had major baggage along with her husband, the dems tore themselves apart bickering and now Trump is in office.

Bloomberg is the split factor and instead of women issues it will be the gay community.

So the continued message to the Department of Defense is "fuck you guys". "Dopes" "losers", "babies".

And now we know there were over 100 US service casualties from the Iran attack. I wonder about the effect this must have on the troops.

And I find it charming the Pentagon is welcoming Vindman with open arms, even while the President is smearing his service and Trump's supporters are calling for his execution online.

                              Thank God for term limits.

I find it logical. He is a highly decorated and qualified employee. I don't know why any supervisor wouldn't welcome him with open arms. You don't seem to have been around many military members. I lived in a military household my entire life, growing up. I heard the conversations behind closed doors when said military members were not happy with or didn't agree with the CIC. I've also seen them compartmentalize those feelings to do their job and act professional while on duty. They do this frequently at all levels of the chain of command.
