Alot of people in australia wont be bing watching anything soon enough if the government implements a streaming tax. Basically NBN CO (national broadband network) was a government backed company that pumped billions in rolling out fibre optic internet vs the old copper wire which is a failure. It has thus far cost alot more than predicted and alot of thr country hasnt even got access to the higher speeds.
The kicker is you need to upgrade to nbn internet if its in your area and if you want actual faster internet it costs more than your current plan. The general service is slower and less reliable, with 5g coming outsoon it will already be left in the dust.
So why is there a tax being considered? Well because theres alot of strain on the network and alot of people are using streaming services they want to have a tax as an excuse for having a failed project. Its been labelled as the ‘netflix tax’.Comment
