    bringing booty out of Japan,
and establishing supply chain to and from Japan
was a costly endeavor due to the frequent Typhoons,
and not worth the effort, nor expense.

And the Mongols crushed the Samurai repeatedly until the typhoon storms sank most of their ships and non-local supplies.

In point of fact, the Mongols, like the early Roman Empire, kicked almost everyone's asses as far as they could reasonably travel,
both empires eventually having to build roads to reach new places to conquer and to provide supply chain support throughout their empires.

Spot on. The combination of horse and bowmanship meant they could charge, wheel and retreat whilst still maintaining the offensive. The infantry of the time just wasn't prepared for that level of violence.

I haven't seen an episode of fear the the walking dead yet. I left the main show at series 4 (I think). I found myself watching just for the sake of watching, not out of enjoyment.

Thinking of watching Samurai Jack, which is by the way getting renewed for a new season 10 years after.

Not a big fan of Badlands but Jessica Jones is the best series on TV right now IMO.

If you're looking at older stuff check out Veronica Mars, the first 2 seasons anyway.

Badlands ticked all my Wire-Fu boxes. I still don't get why all guns were banned but I can buy into it.

I'm a big fan of the long story arc so that sounds right up my street.

VM has a season-long arc but also each episode has a case of the week. It's also much darker than you would expect.

My girl's crazy about Veronica Mars. I've never seen it but she's got great taste (she bones me, after all), so I take her word for it.

If you and she have never seen Jane the Virgin, every few episodes one of the Gracies or another of the original UFC veteran's make an uncredited appearance as an extra as part of the plot.

As the series progressives, more and more MMA and BJJ type references are made.

It's a cult favorite within the grappling community.

The first few episodes start off slow, but then it really picks up.

So far, it's a fun little series but I haven't read the comic so I've nothing to compare it too. The episodes are pretty formulaic so it's an easy case of disengage brain and tune in.

Add Fargo to my list. The series, not the original movie (one of my favorites). Series does a good job at paying homage to the original, while keeping a completely unique storyline. Good casting, and macabre comedy at its finest.
Consider for a moment that there is no meme about brown-haired, brown-eyed step children.

Not a big fan of FTWD. The Americans is one of the best shows on TV. This season is a little slow so far but the first 3 are amazingly good. Continuing in the spy vein, Homeland is really really good too.
