Consider for a moment that there is no meme about brown-haired, brown-eyed step children.

I just finished that one last night. IMHO, one of the best shows ever made.

It is easy a tie with Expanse as for most awesome scifi series. Rewatching Altered Carbon in the back ground today ... or maybe Expanse ...

I've seen a lot of people recommending that and when I looked at the description...

" only the poor have to die"

"you can live forever if you can afford it"

              ...you

              hippy

              motherfuckers.

Uh, not quite what it's about, dipshit. It's largely about wooden acting, Bladerunner-ripoff scenery and full frontal nudity.

The book's better. The TV series Hollywoodises a bunch of stuff, in the process making the storyline far less believable. And it's a storyline about brain transplants in spaaaace, so that's no small feat.

                  Ok, commie.
                  That sounds so much better.

The biggest change I noticed was the VR torture scene. For super obvious reasons. Old boy was tame next to reading that shit.

Altered Carbon seems to have borrowed one of the premises of this classic bomb.

'I am no advocate of passivity, Coffin Mott said in an 1860 speech. Quakerism, as I understand it, does not mean quietism. The early Friends were agitators; disturbers of the peace; and were more obnoxious in their day to charges, which are now so freely made, than we are.'

Oh I love that film. It’s terrible and brilliant all in one, it’s worth watching to see Jagger being the campest bounty hunter ever and Hopkins’ mullet.

Well, I finally watched 8 Mile. Much disappoint. I was led to believe it would be a movie full of Epic Rap Battles in History. No such luck, I spent 90 minutes waiting to get to the only 3 rap battles that I've already watched on youtubz a billion times. Hey, Marshall, I don't care if your moms lives in a trailer and is fucking your high school bully. I want that piece of my life back. Fuck.

Russian Sci Fi from the 70's.

I was thinking about it earlier. There is some amazing stuff. I remembering reading a bunch of english translations of Russian SciFi short stories in various scifi mags in the mid 80s. Good propaganda it helped create warmer feelings for the Russian Federation towards the end-ish of the Cold War, I was already hooked on science and space.

I have two of my favorites up lined up Solaris 1972 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solaris_(1972_film) The 2002 version is ... James Cameron and Jon Landau, and starring George Clooney and Natascha McElhone... so ... watch that if you want ... I guess ... it is ...not bad but bad but the OG version is butter. Then I wanna watch Stalker https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stalker_(1979_film) again. Not like in a row ... that would be like 7 hours of Long Format Russian Sci Fi. That isn't healthy. Break it up into one movie a viewing and use the intermissions cues.
