There was an update on the news saying one shooter was down, but they're not sure if there is more than one.

Not to be mean, but what are the odds on it being a Muslim??

The vast majority of the psycho spree shooters are non-Muslim white guys. So I'd say the odds are low.

The last shooting that took place on a military base disagrees with you.

Learn what majority means you dipshit.

Anyway, we'll have to wait for the religious bent, but they are on the look our for one white guy and one black guy.

The latest from Yahoo! News says that one shooter is dead and police are still seeking two more suspects, a white male and a black male, both armed and dressed in "military-style" uniforms. Death toll is now at 12.

I've been watching this since around 8:30 this morning... the "military-style," thing is really starting to irk me. Can't quite put my finger on what it is that bothers me about it, though. Maybe it's just because it's in my "lexicon of stupidity," along with assault weapon. How much you wanna bet that they guy(s) in "military-style," uniforms used "assault weapons?"
Consider for a moment that there is no meme about brown-haired, brown-eyed step children.

One thing I'm a bit confused about, shouldn't active naval bases have really good security??

I presume the use of "military-style" here indicates that the shooter(s) appeared to be in military uniform, but that there is no way for the media to confirm that they were actually wearing real military uniforms. That's just trying to be honest and succinct.

I think that's much more innocent than "assault weapons", a term that was invented to make guns sound more scary so that we could ban them.

"Military style" has been bandied about recently by mewling cowards who are actually calling for laws against civilian sales of camo pants and load bearing gear becasue it "looks scary".

They haven't gotten much traction, yet.

I can't believe you typed this concerning the me first media. The media could say camouflage gear, hunting gear, survival gear or a few other things that avoid hyperbole and misinformation.

It's the same hyperbole as the "assault" label.

@WTOP reporting that Aaron Alexis of Texas is one dead shooter.

                        (edit)

To be fair, it seems DCPD used the term first.

I am 100% sure you didn't understand my post. I am talking about the media being "honest" and "succinct" by using that description.

But the media never saw the guy. They probably didn't have the kind of specific information that you're talking about. What they probably did have was a few witnesses who said the guy looked like he was in uniform. They said "military-style" to allow for the possibility that the shooter wasn't actually a serviceman.

34-year-old former Navy electrician. Two previous arrests, one of which was for discharging a firearm in public. No word yet on a motive.

So this could end up being nothing more than a disgruntled fucktard attack. People really need to learn better ways to deal with emotions.
