1,345 The record has been broken

No it wasn't me that that broke the record it was this fat fuck at 1,345 pounds.

I'm not sure if it counts as Monday motivation or not, but it sure as hell makes me want to run a few miles.

(CNN) - King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia has intervened to help a man who has become one of the heaviest people in the world.

The king ordered Khalid bin Mohsen Shaari, who weighs 1,345 pounds (610kg) and is unable to move by himself, be transferred from the Southern border province of Jazan to the country's capital Riyadh to undergo treatment.

According to Guinness World Records, the record weight for a living person is held by Manuel Uribe from Mexico, who weighed 1,235 pounds (560kg) in 2006. After making a television appeal for help, his weight in March 2012 had fallen to 980 pounds (444.6 kg.)

According to the official spokesman for Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Health, Shaari was due to arrive in Riyadh either later Monday or on Tuesday. Pictures showed a fork-lift truck lifting him in is bed. The spokesman said Shaari is aged between 18 and 20.

He will be treated at the King Fahd Medical City, and undergo a series of dietary and physical programs in order to help him lose weight, the spokesman said. Although surgery is not scheduled at the moment, the Ministry of Health says it has not been ruled out. Special beds and trolleys have been made for him.

Most people would consider 345 to be obese, but that guy is obese + 1K.

    610kg is seriously bariatric.

I work as a manual handling advisor for healthcare in Queensland and the biggest person we have had through my hospital was about 320kg. The worst part was that he lived in a toll bridge and to extract him they had to shut down traffic for a couple of hours, tear out a window and then load him onto a gantry and lower him down with a crane to the bariatric ambulance.

So not only did he manage to make my work life hell for 3 months, he also added an extra hour onto my trip home that afternoon.

I can't even begin to understand how much food that guy must have been shoving in his gob. He must spend most of his time awake shoveling food in his face.

I'm not sure if I should feel pity or disgust.

If this had been a woman, the House of Saud would have just had her shot.

Poor bugger, it must be almost impossible to see a way back from that kind of state.

I bet he can see his way to the next meal easily enough though.

I kind of want to hear this guy's full story, like how does someone get into this sort of situation?

                    Exactly.

Lose the hair and you've got either Bane or you've got dying Darth, just after Luke took off his mask, wheezing: "You have saved me".

Removing him from his current environment is prolly gonna be a huge help. He wasn't getting the food by himself after all. Some fucker kept bringing food to him,and they are equally responsible for this, and prolly just as messed up as him.

Link with video of the man being transported:

                            http://au.news.yahoo.com/a/-/world/1...d-to-hospital/

It's a pretty full on logistical operation getting him out of his house and into the aircraft (I know in Queensland there have been instances of using a Defence Force Hercules to transport bariatric patients as most of our dedicated air transport is only capable of transporting patients up to 150kg).

Scipio - I stopped feeling pity in this type of situation a long time ago. Because of my job I now just see this as a logistical nightmare. Most of the equipment available on the market to cater to these patients caps out at around 450kg. The major problem is that the equipment is designed to withstand a certain weight and doesn't really cater to the individual's dimensions a lot of the time.

KiwiPhil - certainly in the case of the gentleman who stayed in our hospital there was someone feeding him who lived in the bridge. He has actually been removed from that environment and is doing pretty well last I heard. The guy who was feeding him however is probably going to end up in the same scenario in the not to distant future as the conversation I had indicated he was quite large.

In unrelated news, I don't feel like bacon for breakfast anymore.
