    Interesting details. Many thanks.

My arnis system is named after the hottest chili pepper in the Philippines (the siling labuyo), so ... y'know.

(Got an email the other day from a morning news show producer in the Philippines. A storm had just been upgraded to a Tropical Storm, and named Labuyo, so Monday's show was going to be all about the labuyo peppers. They wanted me to teach the morning show hosts some arnis. He seemed mightily disappointed when I told him I was in Canada and couldn't make it)

I used to play Warhammer 40k and my favourite chapter of Space Marines were the Dark Angels. When I was choosing a screen name for my PS3 account however I figured using that as a screen name would be 1) sad and 2) impossible to find without many numbers after it so I decided to go with Dork Angel instead. I liked the fact that no-one else had chosen it (probably with good reason) so I use it on forums as well.

My nickname in one of the JKD schools I attended was "Hannibal" (yes as in "Dr Lecter") and I post on MAP under that handle. When I came here someone who had a less than stellar reputation already used it so I was "Hannibal MAP" for a while. Then Phrost wanted us all to pick ninjer names for an April fools gag and when that was over it was changed to "Hanniballistic"

...and there was me thinking that it was a reference to Hannibal, you know, the Battle of Cannae etc., Trasimene etc.

                Yes, really..."Dr Lecter". Blimey.

It was when I first logged on and was asked for a name. I hadn't a clue although I think I momentarily thought of using Bluffer but then I remembered when I was in a pub/dancehall/disco looking at gorgeous women and my mate remarked that he felt like being "at an Eddie Hardon concert" and that make me guffaw. I thought it very funny. He'd had a few drinks and his name was actually Nick...so I thought, that'll do.

                  It still makes me laugh.

I have played Piano since 1997. Until roughly 2005 it was purely against my will, but because my parents didn't like the idea of me defying them, I never got away with not practicing. Not practicing meant I got punished, more or less, so for the first 8 years of my musical instruction it was a lot of my teacher telling my parents that I didn't practice and my parents harping (lol music puns) on me to continue practicing, and me not practicing. Until 2005, when my parents decided to buy a new piano.

The piano my parents bought is still in the dining room, though it's covered in stuff to be put in a garage sale this weekend, so I can't play it, is a Roland digital piano with 65 pre-recorded songs, and the music to 60 of them, all from the greats such as Liszt, Brahms, Beethoven, Mozart and Chopin. And not simplified versions of these songs, either; the real deal. Believe it or not, in 8 years of private music instruction, I'd never heard the original Beethoven's Fur Elise, or the original along with many, many other timeless piano pieces.

Once hearing these songs and getting to look at what REAL piano music looked like, all 8 years of lessons seemingly going in one ear and out the other fell into place like watching a Tetris master at work. I went from playing dainty little two-note-per-hand songs to, well, Fur Elise and Fantasie Impromptu, along with songs by Muzio Clementi, Achille-Claude Debussy and Scott Joplin, as well as music written/arranged by current composers, at the same skill level.

But the meaning for my name comes from a Facebook discussion back when I first started on Facebook. I joined a group of piano players, and found they were discussing what their favorite keys to play in are. Amongst the C Majors and F# minors, someone with an extremely foreign name commented that "C#-" was their favorite. I'd never find the post again if I wanted, but I realized they meant C sharp minor, which is the key that Fantasie Impromptu is written in, as well as the middle part (around 2:30) of my favorite piece, . Thusly, I realized that my favorite key to listen to and play in is C# minor, or csharp negative, which just sounded too cool to ignore.

                      Yay! :>

When I joined in 2008 I was a 20-year-old college kid dabbling in BJJ and obsessed with Pink Floyd bootleg recordings. "Raving and Drooling" was the working title they used for the song "Sheep" when they played it in concert before putting it to an album.

My user name is the same as my YouTube account which was just what popped into my head as an appropriately 'internet' handle..I don't really care for it.

When I first joined the site my user name was Hooky. Slang for dodgy/wrong/not on the level etc and the hook is my fav punch..it seemed right for this site. Wonder if I can get it back...
