Bezmond sounds like a good natured, bumbling fool sort of a name so it stuck.

Fields is my last name. I was given the name Battlefields by a friend when I was 19, because back then, if you liked hip hop and rhymed yourself, you were known by default as a "battle" rapper (fuck you, 8 Mile). I didn't like "battle" rapping, I was into lyrical artistry, so I absolutely despised the tag in relation to my skills as a wordsmith, especially as I saw hip hop as more a driving force behind change than giving quick multi syllabic quips designed to inflict shit by acting like a prick. Fast forward to 2009 and here I was faced with signing up to Bullshido, I didn't want to use my hip hop name, Maz-Ire, and battlefields seemed apt. The legend was born.
