I attempted to come up with something witty to write here, but there is literally nothing I could say to make the fact that Florida accidentally banned all computers any funnier.

What was the original motivation to ban all internet cafes?

    EDIT: Internet gambling? Seriously?

I may be out of touch here. How does an internet cafe facilitate e-gambling better than say a home computer?

The ban defines slot machines as "any system or network of devices that may be used in a game of chance".

Seems to me that they've not only banned computers in Florida, but human beings as well.

I hear we are going to get rid of trading on the stock market too.

        And driving.

        And eating raw oysters.

It's buried in one of the articles. They went targeting a specific type of gambling parlor (illegal in Florida) and have now disrupted Bingo games for seniors throughout the state.

          Florida.

I think that the Florida police have an obligation now to seize every computer in the state, including their own.

Wait does this mean that if the cops in Florida run a check on someone that it would be an illegal act??

Yep. And every time I use my phone. We are dusting off the typewritters and pulling out all the file cabinets.

The 27 Florida residents that own computers were outraged.

Well, at least my grandmother will stop trying to talk to me on Facebook.

I suspect it kind of went like this:

"Shouldn't we investigate this specific problem and then consider targeted legislation?"
"Too much work and bad publicity. Let's just ban everything."
"Couldn't that be risky and affect other things that have nothing to do with this?"
"Oh, what's the worst that could happen?"
