    Classic and iconic TV commercials

Driving to work, this morning, I saw an Isuzu truck and - being a former Isuzu owner - wondered if they were still selling consumer vehicles. In my research, I was reminded of Joe Isuzu, the impetus for this thread.

One of my all-time favorite series of commercials, Joe Isuzu. Here's a compilation. Bonus at 4:25 for a karate scene. I also love how they leave the speeding bullet in its casing.

Ancient Chinese secret, huh? This series saw millions of us continuing to make fun of Chinese culture in a way that only racist Americans can (see also Bugs Bunny).

While we're on Calgon, who could forget the series of commercials featuring hot MILFs in bubbly tubs? "Calgon, take me away!"
(video removed because I can only do 5 in a single post)

Maxell surely cemented iconic status with this commercial, which was also available in poster form. In the music world, I guess you know you've made it when Weird Al parodies you. The Jackass 3D treatment of this commercial is a suitable tribute.

Where's the beef? This Wendy's ad was so successful that it is credited with destroying Gary Hart's presidential bid in 1984.

I felt it. Maybe not iconic or a classic, but this has been at the top of my list of funniest commercials for over a decade.

Consider for a moment that there is no meme about brown-haired, brown-eyed step children.

Never drank Tab, but I sure as hell sat up straight whenever this came on the tube.

Shut the hell up and train.

There was a guy named Cal Worthington here in SoCal that had commercials for his car dealership. They stood out to me because he seemed to be an immortal mummy- he had commercials from the late 70s all the way to the 90s.

Apparently the guy is 92 and still alive. I think I bought a dodge truck from one of his dealerships.

I rather liked this one from (I think) Germany

You've hit on something, here... some young stud (or studlet) seeking a PhD will someday use our memories of childhood commercials as some sort of social indicator, I'm sure.

I remember the Chiffon, vaguely... my preference in that area tends to Parkay:

And, I just realized (now having children) that Tigger and the lead Scrubbing Bubble are probably the same guy.

@Holy Moment - holy shit, that Tiger Schulmann school was prolific!

It's a franchise, big in New York and New Jersey. I grew watching those commercials, so much so that Tiger Schulmann's was basically synonymous with karate to me.

It's almost surreal seeing guys like Uriah Hall and Louis Gaudinot training out of Tiger Schulmann's and fighting in the UFC nowadays.

Victory Auto Wreckrs in the Chicago area has been using the same commerical for the past 30+ years. The only thing they changed was the area code from 312 to 630 back when they redid the area codes. I still crack up when the guy goes to open his door and it hits him. As for national commercials I would have to say the Nissan 300Z commercials with G.I. Joe, Ken, and Barbie from the 90's.
