    Mr Wizard > Bill Nye

So in an effort to expand on my nearly 7 year olds science education I got my hands on all the Mr. Wizard and Bill Nye episodes.
Mr. Wizard wins hands down by his first episode first experiment
Volcano made out of Asbestos-Paper filled with ammonium dichromate.

Of the single rapier fight between valiant men, having both skill, he that is the best wrestler, or if neither of them can wrestle, the strongest man most commonly kills the other, or leaves him at his mercy.

Get the fuck out. At least Bill Nye didn't give kids cancer with asbestos paper. I almost fell asleep before he got around to setting it off. If you ever try to say this crotchety old fart even compares to the One True Science Guy, I will personally hunt you down and drown you with my tears after you break my arm.

    YES I'M MAD.

Bill Nye's gear is operating right now on Mars.

      /thread.
'“I am no advocate of passivity,” Coffin Mott said in an 1860 speech. “Quakerism, as I understand it, does not mean quietism. The early Friends were agitators; disturbers of the peace; and were more obnoxious in their day to charges, which are now so freely made, than we are.”'

I counter with Bill Nye's own words
"Herbert's techniques and performances helped create the United States' first generation of homegrown rocket scientists just in time to respond to Sputnik. He sent us to the moon. He changed the world."
        articles.latimes.com/2007/jun/15/entertainment/et-wizard15

Obvious both men great, and I will even admit that Billy Nye's program is a bit better for a child as he does a great job of talking about one subject for 22 mins but reducing it down in a manner that appeals to someone with a short attention span by constantly jumping around.

However Mr. Wizard gets more to the heart of science the experiment. Each episode was one experiment with a very short explanation to the science behind it after another. The best part was they where always stuff you can do at home on the cheap. Easy to repeat and easy to understand.

Mr. Wizard would've fit in just fine on Bullshido.

Nye did the same stuff. And his instruments are also now taking Martian measurements.

Carl Sagan personally taught Bill Nye about science. Can you imagine that experience?

            Nye > Wizard.

Yeah, Nye could totally take him...

Of course Jamie and Adam don't hold a candle to these 2 other men they do, do a great job of being entertaining.

I don't think Mr. Wizard has much fight in him these days...

Though I guess he could win if Nye contracted some sort of horrible infection while molesting Mr. Wizards corpse...

                      Science FTW!

Oh I thought we where going for one of those who would win Bruce Lee or Anderson Silva sorts of things with that.

You are correct in his current condition he wouldn't put up much of a fight.

Oh yeah, in their prime that would be one hell of a match up.

                          I'm with you though on giving that one to Wizzard for a couple of reasons;

One: Wizzard wears a windsor tie. Like a man. Nye wears a bow tie. Like a clown. What's up with that?

Two: Mr. Wizard is one fo those "greatest generation" crusty old bastards. A couple blows to the head and he'd be back on Iwo Jima clearing machine gun nests with nothing but his bare teeth and a kill boner. Nye wouldn't stand a chance.

Three: Old school resistance to poisons. Wizard wasn't afraid of asbestos fireproofing, carcinogenic house cleaners, toxic pesticides or lead based baby formula. Nye would probably go into toxic shock just from exposure the the poisonous heavy metal content of Mr. Wizard's breath.

Don was actually a B-24 pilot, which is cool but not as cool as putting a sun dial on Mars like Nye did.

Don Herbert died of rare blood cancer, too.
