Alan Moore: What a Crazy Mofo

Just bought the new League of Extraordinary Gentleman. Alan Moore releases shit so seldom that it's like a blast from the past when I go into the comic store and pick something up. Oh Alan, you dangerously unstable, unintelligible mofo. Here's to you!

I personally think that he should be locked in a very comfortable box somewhere serine in the mountains so he can do his art in peace and we'd never have to hear his insane ramblings reminding us that talent can end up in total nutters to.

Alan Moore: famous drugged out comicbook writer. Now rarely publishes and mostly does spoken word performance and bitch about Ppl adapting his work. Wrote one cool novel and working on a second. Into weird occult shit for past 20 years

Other well-known works include Watchmen, his run on the Swamp Thing series ( which turned the marginal character into a quasi-diety of the DC Universe), Batman: The Killing Joke , which is arguably the best Batman story ever and his work on Superman as well.
                The guy is a legend.
Its too bad he's so out there and has taken his anti-establishment craziness so far.
                BUT
At least he's no sellout.. *cough* Frank Miller *cough*

Agree with everything in your post, but you left one off.
Probably one of the best mini series in 15 years.

Kingdom Come was interesting, and the artwork is incredible.
Its not one of my personal favorites, but no Top 10 collection is complete without it either.

Nope, that was Alex Ross and Mark Waid. :)

Moore is probably the only mainstream "artistic" writer of comic books out there, and, as others have said, go and get his stuff. It's, if not always particularly intelligent, some of the most engaging comic book reading I personally have ever encountered.

Check out "From Hell". That one was insanely intense.

I give Alex Ross the most credit because it was his version of "Marvels" and was a 40 page hand writen project before Waid came in.

Left to his own devices Waid wrote this shit:

Alan Moore has been dining out on the watchmen for decades now. His superman, green lantern and swamp thing runs were great for their time, but his constant bitching about current comics and writers really pisses me off, especially about the new watchmen prequels, which so far have been outstanding.
