Yeah, I'd feel sorry for them too. Especially, if they got ciguatera. You can't destroy that one by cooking either.

"I've been dazzled, I can't concentrate on topic anymore!!"

Or is this like trolling at the highest level--like you start up a thread and troll it with off topic, lackluster posts?
Because you said something about DDD league

It's a reference to baseball farm teams with AAA being the highest level and lower levels stratified downward.

Time to get back with it: Where are all these delicious maki etc you promised us all. I (and I'm sure the other viewing public) await breathe abated for your reply.

Time for you to shine, after all "90% of being famous is just showing up."

In it's best form it's basically chunks of sashimi with various seasonings so it's a bit more rustic than carpaccio, yet the fish is the certainly the star.
Of course like sushi it can be bastardized into a mayonaissey mess of Califorincation.

I had maguro and hamachi tonight.
          It was awesome.

So, now that you brought that up (and the hijack/derail is nearing completion), wtf is up with people(that are sensitized) getting symptoms from the mere proximity of infected fish?
Have you heard anything along these lines?

              Maguro and hamachi sound delicious.

I don't know about proximity, but some toxins and bacterial proteins and other stuff are antigenic, meaning that the immune system produces 'tags' called antigens that mark them for destruction when found. Immune system cells called macrophages use these as identifiers of unfriendly items and eat and digest them to eliminate the threat. Sometimes some antigens can be overproduced or one can cause a disproportionate reaction to it in the immune system. Chemicals that activate the immune cells get produced enmasse and start like a '5 alarm fire,' where everyone freaks out to an ordinary small threat or something really invasive and new. Think of this like hay fever allergies, but on a greater scale. People retain a memory of these instances and the body remains prepped to fight against these encounters at the drop of a hat, so to speak.

a cytokine storm, is kind of like this, but even bigger and worse, such that it progresses to the point of damaging tissues and such as well.

For all the "knowledge" you try to spread, you're really pretty ignorant. If you'd take your simple ass back a page or two, you'd see my response to the last time you said something like this. Having said that, are you a female? Seriously. You're reminding me of how my girl argues. She likes to change the subject mid-argument so she can try and be right about something, even if its completely irrelevant.

He's a research scientist who lives in the country where sushi was born.

What are your academic and geographic credentials?

That's a rhetorical question by the way.

Well, shit. I had not heard of that before. Lunch=ruined.

And if we're talking about Japanese food in general, my favorite place in NYC is Sugiyama. http://www.sugiyama-nyc.com/ It's not a sushi place, though. It's a kaiseki-style restaurant. One of the courses will be sashimi, naturally. Bring your appetite and plenty of time.

And what does that have to do with staying on the topic of conversation and being able to read previous threads?

                      That's rhetorical too ;)

Here's one that isn't rhetorical though, is his job to research sushi? If that's the case he should find a new job because like I said earlier, sushi is something the Japanese got from the Chinese means of preserving raw fish in vinegar rice. So since you two are THE sushi authority I'm guessing he lives in China and you're his little internet pen pal?

Next thing you know, people are going to be saying that Publix doesn't sell the good stuff!!

I lived in Okinawa for 4 years. And loved eating sushi and sushimi over there. I don't like the sushimi over here(the states) as much.

My wife is an Epidimiologist, and she has now made me paranoid as hell about eating raw food. However, the oyster-fest was awesome this weekend!!!

Edit: I hope this doesn't give you all a fucking heart attack. It was so goddamn delicious I almost had one!

Nice. Maybe you'll fit in here after all.

And yeah, I'm totally jubei33's little internet pen pal. How'd you know?

Also, I'm neither a sushi authority nor a purist. I occasionally eat rolls myself.
