Anyone watch deadliest warrior? What do you think of this new season? Haha, I think its a pretty cool show, I like that they got Mack from Future Weapons

I don't go out of my way to watch it, but I'll watch it when it's on. I like it for its entertainment value.

I think that its value as a continuing series is pretty low. Right now it is currently George Washington vs. Napoleon.....not super exciting.

Yeah that episode sucked hahaha. Tonight's the Army Rangers vs. Korea Special Forces, so it sounds good. We'll see though haha.

The only part I particularly enjoy is the weapon by weapon showdowns. I think the evaluation and final battle are all just made for TV. There are simply too many variables to actually take a computer simulation seriously.

Yeah I just watch it for the weapons really. The sim thing is kinda bs, so like you said, it's made for tv haha. The weapons they try on that show are quite amazing I think.

I wouldn't hate on this show so much if at least their methods were sound. Hell, I'd settle for just consistent.

"Lets test the US Special Forces hand grenade ....in a pexiglass booth full of mannequins"...?...Well OK. It seems goofy but it's a start.

"Now lets test the Spetznaz RDG-5 grenade, but not in a plexiglass booth like the US grenade lets put this one in a washing machine"....? Huh ? What is proved by doing that ? They did that kind of inconsistent crap all over the place.

The worst was during Viking vs Samurai they tested the Samurai sword against chain mail and it didn't even scratch the pig carcass and they went ahead with the rest of the show as if it didn't matter that one warriors weapons WERE USELESS against the other. To say nothing about the certain 50 pound weight disparity between those two. It was never factored in as even a possible advantage.

They have yet IMHO to run any weapons tests worth a damn and whats worse is that those wielding them are also untested. Any slob of an animie fanboy can chop up a stationary unarmored gel torso or a hanging pig carcass and on this show that's what we see 99% of the time.

The firearms demos are even worse. I fully understand that live fire demos are inherently dangerous and safety must come before scientific rigor but testing scoped sniper rifles from all of 80 yards away ?

I can see this show has an admirable concept but in execution this show is 10 pounds of fail in 5 pound bag. If anything it reinforces false notions of what is important in a battle ie sword AND shield vs just sword, no armor vs armor, training and conditioning and so on.

I wish they would just dump the extra stuff and do side by side comparisons of weapons from different ages. Don't just have one test but come up with 6 to a dozen and see which is better. Both weapons do all the exact same tests and the one that accomplishes the most wins. Simple and you get to see what you really want to see, weapons hacking stuff up, blowing stuff up and just causing general mayhem.

The whole computer generated results thing sucks.

Bad Apple, all the things that make you hate DW are the reasons I watch it; its fucking hilarious. It's even better when they get the answers wrong like the Napoleon vs. Washington episode; patriotism so thick it ignored the fact that George Washington didn't build one of the worlds biggest empires.

It's like watching televised mash ups of high school history and science projects when the school is desperately underfunded.

Got out of work early today and ending up ranting at the TV because Deadliest Warrior was on. Gladiator vs. Apache. I'd like to see the credentials of the so-called experts...Snake Blocker was featured in another thread.

Agreed that the show should consist of weapons demos. The rest of it, the computer, the trash talking...retarded.

Deadliest Warrior is a guilty pleasure of mine. I love watching what seem to be genuinely heated arguments between grown men about how a ninja could totally beat a cowboy in a fight, and then show why with SCIENCE!

The inconsistencies in the tests have always bothered me too. Anyone who's taken high school science class knows that scientific comparisons are done with "all other factors being equal", or at least as close as possible.

At least in this new season, they try to take more factors into account. Still doesn't make the show too much better, scientifically, but it's something.

Yeah I think this season they are looking more at "x factors" which is good. The sim thing is complete bull haha. Just compare the weapons and stuff with like 8 different tests.
