'I am no advocate of passivity, Coffin Mott said in an 1860 speech. Quakerism, as I understand it, does not mean quietism. The early Friends were agitators; disturbers of the peace; and were more obnoxious in their day to charges, which are now so freely made, than we are.'

I really wish Wabbit had good taste in music.

It's a shame really since he's so passionate about it.

Leadbelly was a genius. A real trailblazer.

People quibble over dumb shit like who wrote what or how these were shared folk songs blah blah blah, but all of that is kind of bullshit complaining and dodging. If there was no Leadbelly then CCR, Clapton, Led Zeppelin, the Animals and every other plagiarist with a book of blotter acid and a deadline to meet wouldn't have recorded many of the songs that defined the 60s and formed the structural basis for the blues and ultimately for rock and roll.

Corrosion of Conformity can't make music anymore because only good looking people are allowed to do that now.

You can't be musically talented and unattractive and expect people to publish your work. It won't get the kind of lopsided monetary rewards that the industry relies on and nobody is going to be taking any chances on the next Kurt Cobain or Jim Morrison or Billy Corgan. That shit is just not going to happen.
