'I am no advocate of passivity, Coffin Mott said in an 1860 speech. Quakerism, as I understand it, does not mean quietism. The early Friends were agitators; disturbers of the peace; and were more obnoxious in their day to charges, which are now so freely made, than we are.'

Blues in the morning, rock and roll at night.

The single most important thing to learn if you want to be "good" at playing a stringed instrument is learn how to relax the muscles in your body.

You can't play well, or fight well either, if you're stiff and holding yourself like Frankenstein.

You have to loosen up. I think that's why I feel like I play better when I'm high and one of the reasons children learn so well. They are naturally prone to holding themselves loosely and doing what comes naturally.
