    Sons of Guns

Any of you Bullies watch this show?

I've got to say, as much as I wanted to like it - I'm disappointed. There's too much silly bullshit. First it was the alligator kill stick. Helllloooo??? Why would anyone pay money for that shit stick when they could just go buy a Taurus Judge for the same price?

Then they converted the Thompson SMG to be used by a SWAT team. Not as stupid as the alligator crap, but if you've ever fired a Thompson you know it's just way too heavy and doesn't make sense for a SWAT team when they have modern weapons available.

But the last episode I watched took the cake. A freakin' flashlight / survival / box gun? That was seriously some of the most lame shit I've ever seen.

Anyway, I know it's just TV but I was hoping for more focus on quality weaponry and real gunsmithing. Oh, well. Back to YouPorn.

And the dude's daughter isn't even hot. The sumbitch could've at least had the common decency to have a hot daughter. I mean, I'd bang her but she's not hot.

And she has this weird thing she does that pisses me off. She often makes a retardesque noise after speaking a sentence. Like: "Dad's gonna be pissed off. Ungghh." Or "This is so much fun. Ungghh". What the fuck is that all about?

The flamethrower episode was cool, but it's atypical of the rest for a few reasons:

        A. Flame Throwers are cool
        B. They literally just made a straight forward flamethrower, no gimmicky BS
        C. "Woody" Williams is a certified Bad Motherfucker:

        Medal of Honor citation
For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty as Demolition Sergeant serving with the First Battalion, Twenty-First Marines, Third Marine Division, in action against enemy Japanese forces on Iwo Jima, Volcano Island, 23 February 1945. Quick to volunteer his services when our tanks were maneuvering vainly to open a lane for the infantry through the network of reinforced concrete pillboxes, buried mines and black, volcanic sands, Corporal Williams daringly went forward alone to attempt the reduction of devastating machine-gun fire from the unyielding positions. Covered only by four riflemen, he fought desperately for four hours under terrific enemy small-arms fire and repeatedly returned to his own lines to prepare demolition charges and obtain serviced flame throwers, struggling back, frequently to the rear of hostile emplacements, to wipe out one position after another. On one occasion he daringly mounted a pillbox to insert the nozzle of his flame thrower through the air vent, kill the occupants and silence the gun; on another he grimly charged enemy riflemen who attempted to stop him with bayonets and destroyed them with a burst of flame from his weapon. His unyielding determination and extraordinary heroism in the face of ruthless enemy resistance were directly instrumental in neutralizing one of the most fanatically defended Japanese strong points encountered by his regiment and aided in enabling his company to reach its' objective. Corporal Williams' aggressive fighting spirit and valiant devotion to duty throughout this fiercely contested action sustain and enhance the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

Right now its about 45% gunsmithing 5% showing off cool guns and 50% reality tv nonsense. If the % ever changes to favor either the smithing or showing off i'll probably get hooked. As of now, not interested.

I saw the episode where he made a bullshit Masterkey and it was annoying as shit because he talks about Masterkeys...and then talked about how no one had ever done it before.

Yeah, that one was cool. You can't go wrong with flamethrowers. I also liked the one where they built the remote control M16 for the security contractor. I'd like to have one of those on my truck.

Same here. I'll probably watch it anyway because I'm a gun whore and the 50% of cool stuff is worth sitting through the other 50% of crap. I DVR it, so after I blast through the commercials there's about 20 minutes of show per episode.

I watched some the other day when there was a marathon and didn't think it was too bad. They made the 4 wheeler mount for the disabled Marine (oorah) and didn't charge him. Plus they converted the mounted machine gun to a shoulder mount, pretty cool.

As far as the alligator gun, well it just depends on where you live. I honestly have never heard of these guys or meet them even though they are an hour away. But I am sure I will meet them sooner or later. I know the type of guys they are since I grew up in that kind of area and I like to see them get a chance to show people what makes south Louisiana so special to me.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say it depends on where you live. I'm not griping about alligator hunting. My complaint is that they built a piece of junk single shot contraption to kill the alligators.

They were looking for a short "stick" to kill alligators with and they wanted it in .410. Why would you custom build something for that purpose? Their end product was a piece of junk that failed to fire when it got a little dirty. If you want a short .410, why not buy a Taurus Judge? It gives you five shots in a bulletproof revolver design that has been well engineered and quality tested.

It was just a silly thing to build in the first place, in my opinion.

I didn't see this one, but in theory this doesn't sound so awful. Sometimes I watch Swamp People and they show how they catch gators by holding a line and awkwardly shooting them in the brain stem with a rifle. A rifle which seems to be designed for handling and shooting at a distance, not shooting at point blank range on a boat. If that's a big part of your hunting season, it would make sense to have a weapon designed for that situation. I don't know what it would look like or how they did it on the show.
