    Solomon Kane

    Has anyone read these ?

    I am a huge fan of Howard's original Conan stories.

    Just found out they are rereleasing his Kane stories in new printings.

    The character looks and sounds cool but I know virtually nothing about it.

    Kane...

    I read an issue of that. Not sure if it was one of Howard's or just another writing using his character. Kane was a Puritan something-or-other whose family was killed, he spent some time in Africa (I think), etc. etc. Now he walks around Europe with a sword hunting monsters. Seemed fun, but I only know a little bit from that issue.

      Howard's original Conan stories are fantastic. Did you read "The People of the Black Circle"? Those are the only fantasy wizards which actually scared me.

      "Red Nails" is great too.
      That civilisation may not sink,
      Its great battle lost,
      Quiet the dog, tether the pony
      To a distant post;
      Our master Caesar is in the tent
      Where the maps are spread,
      His eyes fixed upon nothing,
      A hand under his head.

        Yeah, I've got the 2 Fantasy Masterworks volumes that have every Howard story collected in the 2 volumes.

        Great stuff.

          They were originally REH stories. And someof them were set in Africa rather than Europe. Marvel used to adapt them in some of the Conan comics. All good stuff.
