    Dooosh bag? You decide:

Feel free to tell me your stereotypes in this thread but I was getting lunch today and this guy walked in. He's ~6'1" 200lbs crew cut wearing a "Tapout" hoodie with most of the sleeve cut off. On his right hip he had a 9mm (Just a guess as I'm not a gun guy) and on his left hip he was wearing a 8" single blade.

    (short hiatus)

Just got done talking to a police officer outside my gym and he told me how that was "technically" legal and there is a strong movement with these guys in the Oregon and Washington area.

    So who are these douchebags?

You had him pegged at the cut off sleeve. Around here you could have just stopped at "Tapout hoodie", unfortunately.

Open carry. I'm looking to be a part of it.

Outside of the cities in the PNW, open carry is quite common.

In fact, I never go into the cut without packing a knife and a sidearm.

Of course that is "the cut". I don't go to the coffee shop packing like the guy in your post.

          Legal? Yes.

          Dooosh bag? Certainly.

The Tapout sweater clinches it. Self defense is one thing, but being so insecure that your lifestyle is based on "territorial threat display" is pretty weak. Especially when your huge and armed. I mean, WTF are you afraind of Mr. giant gun wielding knife fighter dude?

As I understand it, knife laws in California are such that you can open carry a fixed blade regardless of length, if it is in plain sight on a belt sheath (but if it's a concealed fixed blade knife, the blade has to be less than two inches). I don't know about the handgun laws.

I think it's just the latest incarnation of the guy trying to intimidate the world. They used to dress like the Fonz, then some of them found out that you can attach spikes and stuff to your jacket, some of them started wearing camouflage pants and combat boots, and then MMA clothing became a thing and they took to it like seagulls to a seafood restaurant dumpster.

You should have taken a photo Omega.

Think of how you've deprived "captions of disaster".

Last I checked, there was a blade length limit of 4" for fixed or folders, both MUST be open carried. (IIRC, could be wrong) As for open vs. concealed? In this state, a pencil in your pocket can net you a concealed deadly weapons charge if the cops want to give you one. This I know from personal experience.

Open carry of a pistol is allowed as long as it is unloaded. I.E., gun on one side, mags on the other. The legislature is trying to restrict even that, but they are running into speed bumps.

FWIW, if your camping in the woods, you can open carry any knife of gun that's legal in this state. (Provided there are no local rules against it. A lot of state parks have nanny state rules imposed on the visitors.)

If I recall correctly you are correct. Fixed blade knives about a certain length(though not sure if its 2 inches I just know it s short as hell). Have to be open carried. As far as guns go in CA for you to open carry it has to be unloaded kind of sort of defeats the purpose if you ask me.

Folding knife laws in CA are related to the opening mechanism, not the blade length. Also there doesn't seem to be a length limit on openly carried fixed blades. However, there is a law that you can't have a blade longer than 4 inches if you're in a state or public building.

Yeah, there's kind of a catch-all rule where concealled "dirks or daggers" are illegal, where they are defined as:
                      (24) As used in this section, a "dirk" or "dagger" means a knife or other instrument with or without a handguard that is capable of ready use as a stabbing weapon that may inflict great bodily injury or death. A nonlocking folding knife, a folding knife that is not prohibited by Section 653k, or a pocketknife is capable of ready use as a stabbing weapon that may inflict great bodily injury or death only if the blade of the knife is exposed and locked into position.

So basically, anything pointy in your pocket.

Classless? most likely. Douche? I would have to talk to the guy to find that out. But I definitely support open carry.

Lol he's more heavily armed then the police in Britain. Ordinary life for middle class American's can't really be so dangerous as to ever need a knife and a gun, its not like middle class Americans live in Soweto or Somalia.

Are you kidding? Some of those soccer moms turn deadly really quickly if you try to cut in line (that's a queue for you Brits) in front of them at fast food restaurants.

                              Deadly I tell you.
Shut the hell up and train.
