Hong Kong actor Tony Leung broke his arm on Monday while practicing martial arts for his next film, "Grand Master".
Leung, who was cast as Ip Man in director Wong Kar-war's new project was practising a fight scene with several other kung fu practitioners. Both Leung and the others used their full strength to create an actual fight. However, Leung missed a kick from an opponent and his left arm was hit, according to a report on the web portal on.cc.
The "Lust, Caution" star is expected to recover in five to six weeks - the report quotes a doctor as saying.
"Grand Master", or "Yi Dai Zong Shi', is a biopic based on the life of Ip Man, who was internationally known as the master of the late kung fu star Bruce Lee. Filming is set to start in August or September, according to earlier reports. It is not yet known if the schedule will be delayed by the actor's injury.
At the end of last year, "Ip Man', a film with a similar subject featuring Donnie Yen as Ip Man, won both critical and box office success in China.

Interesting news not on Tony Leung's arm but what the hell are HK Wing Chun and which school/instructor is so bad ass that they break arms with WC kicks? Certainly not in my curriculum.

How historically accurate will Grandmaster be?
What surprises would Wong Kar Wai pull since he rarely works with a script much like in the film 2046 which Tony starred in.

Jackie Chan finished "Rumble in the Bronx" on a broken foot and "Armour of God" right after the doctors drilled a fucking hole in his head.

I say this guy should suck it up.

Jackie Chan has admitted in his autobiography, straight to video Jackie Chan (My Story) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0242545/)before he never really budgeted for mishaps, and if he did, they usually were the first to go once pressure from investors to cut costs came.

I still remember, in his autobiograhy, for Rumble in the Bronx, he admitted had he NOT finished filming for despite his broken foot, he would have gone bankrupt. He didn't even have enough money to withdraw where filming was held and was living on cup noodles that the crew had saved for outdoor shoots. Had anything happened in the final scene in the hydrocraft scene, they (Jackie & co.) couldn't afford a reshoot.
