Hi all, I just signed up on this board, and I have a couple of questions for the seasoned vets. I'm 30 years old, and I have allowed myself to get out of shape over the past 10 years or so. I wrestled in high school, and I was quite good. I was looking for something to get myself back into shape that I could enjoy as much as wrestling. After some investigation, I have a serious interest in MMA --- specifically BJJ and Muay Thai.

My first question is: Is this something I can go into at a begginer level without embarrasment? Do you have any suggestions for me in starting to learn this art?

Secondly, I am moving to Raleigh NC. Do you recommend any specific gyms there? Thanks in advance for you responses.

Hi there. There are a couple of good places in the area. There is my school (http://www.goldsmithkungfu.com/content/view/41/74/) in Chapel Hill, which may or may not be close enough for you. There is also Crossfit (http://www.crossfitnc.com/)/Team ROC in Raleigh, which is quite good, especially for BJJ, and East Coast Submission Academy (http://www.ecsamartialarts.com/) out in Durham. Hope that helps!
