Hey guys/gals

I am mmawoman from Central Arkansas , please keep arkansas jokes to a minimum. I am a Brazilian JuJitsu student, training for 1 year so I am still pretty new.

There are a lot of BJJ schools and MMA coming out of the woodworks here in the south. They are always offering seminars with people, some whom I have never heard of, some I have. Which is one reason why I joined this fabulous forum! To find out info on these people and see if they are ligit!

Another reason why I joined is because where I live there are not a lot on women in martial arts much less BJJ and MMA so I am hoping to do some networking.

Last but not least reason is because I have visited this site several times before and enjoyed reading thru the posts. You guys dont hold back , you keep in real and no BS!

So, here I am and I look forward to discussions!

In spite of what some other web-sites would have you believe, we here at Bullshido.net welcome you, mmawoman, with open arms and hope that you will share with us your unique experiences and ideas on the martial arts.... so that we may then make fun of those experiences and ideas.

I'm not sure about MMA, but I've noticed more and more women are now writing BJJ blogs, so that might be of use to you:

BJJ Grrl (http://bjjgrrl.wordpress.com/)
Georgette (http://www.georgetteoden.blogspot.com/)
Grappledunk (http://grappledunk.wordpress.com/)
Gringa BJJ (http://www.gringabjj.com/)

Christina (http://fraquellibjj.blogspot.com/)
Val Worthington (http://www.bjjvisionquest2006.blogspot.com/)
Felicia Oh (http://feliciaoh.blogspot.com/)

In terms of MMA women, the main one I can think of is by UK fighter Rosi Sexton, whose solid academic background (she has a PhD) means its more eloquent than most:

Welcome! This place is a bit of a sausage-fest, but there are a few of us who hang out here, in spite of the nasty smells ;-)

I'm a boxer, but I'll be hanging up my gloves at the end of the year and giving BJJ a try :new_puppy . I'm sure I'll have some questions for you! I'll see if I can get Pumpkinhead to drop in and say hi too - she's got her first amateur MMA fight in January.
