So, If you hadnt of guessed I'm new to all this.

I thought I would join because Im in search of a lil guiding :) from you mighty wisdom peeps...

So I thought It was about time I got my @ss into gear and started a hobby or maybe a lil more....
I cycle 10 miles a day and run an extra 2 or 3... do a lil upper body strength exercise but nothing too great.....

So I thought it would be good to start something new.... Ive always wanted to get into either boxing or kick boxing but personal stuff has always got in the way... but enough is enough... its time to start and get rid of what would be greatly missed of my love handles lol

So anyone got any advice where to send a complete newbie to learn kickboxing or boxing...
also if i have posted my rant in the wrong place... then sorry... please direct me to the relivant area :)

thanks
-sarah-

So Inkedsaz, you decided to go ahead and register huh? Cool. Don't forget to review your dojo (http://www.bullshido.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=83).

Nope, you're in the right place. Welcome to Bullshido.

But in order to recommend a gym to you, people will need to know where you are.

There are some UK posters here. See if you can change your thread title to "Another UK Newbie". That may draw them in. Welcome to BS.

Also perhaps run a Google search with "martial arts," "mixed martial arts," "judo," brazilian jiu jitsu" etc. etc. with your city name and see what pops up. If you've got a list of schools or websites it could help in narrowing down your options.

Hi Sarah, I'm in London so I don't have any personal experiences of Martial Arts in your neck of the woods but typing in 'leicestershire martial arts' in Google brings up a lot of matches.

I also found this link:

What sort of Martial Art are you looking for?

Just looking at the websites, Leicester kickboxing looks better than the pka place - but the only way you'll know is if you go there and try it out yourself.

As long as you don't get pressured to sign up for any long term contracts straight away, the most you've got to lose is a few hours of your time, and maybe a few quid.

well i originally wanted to just do boxing but want to do kick boxing. I've been to the sites and was wondering if anyone on the site had been to any of them. . . . But i think the best thing to do is just go and see. As long as they are trainers and not just business men if you get what i mean

It's always a good idea to go and check the place out yourself. Take a free class and choose the gym that you feel most compfortable and seems to have the most to offer you.
